Another quilt top for a high school graduate.
I wasn't loving that contrasting color.
I REALLY wanted white surrounding those string blocks.
But...
White+college boys dorm room= does not add up!!!
When I added the blue border I liked it a bit more.
The quilt was inspired by
My FIRST quilting book
and still
my favorite!
Here's the quilt in the book.
I still have a nice stack of scrappy blue blocks.....
Ready to be another quilt!!!
I like the blues and brown...very masculine.
ReplyDeletePerfecto! Just the ticket for a college bound young man. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI like the colors you chose better than the ones in the book.... and how perfect for someone going off to college!
ReplyDeleteSmart call on the "no white" thing....
A wonderful setting and colors for a masculine quilt. Can't wait to see what becomes of the next pile of strings.
ReplyDeleteI agree--I totally love string quilts. I love your color choices.
ReplyDeleteBeth!
ReplyDeleteYou did it again! Fantastic job with the strings!
I really like that quilt! Setting the blocks on point in the contrasting color really makes it sing!!
ReplyDeleteThe blue border really brings it together-- and I love the little brown strip on either end!
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to make a "masculine" quilt but you hit it. Love the blues and browns.
ReplyDeleteBeth, it turned out perfectly! I tend to want to contrast everything with white, but your quilt shows how wonderful other color combinations can look. This will be perfect for a guy's dorm room! I also have that quilt book and love it. Thinking I need to pull it out again. I really like how the string blocks look set on point.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great...perfect for a guys room!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt for a boys dorm room!
ReplyDeleteAwesome guy quilt, Beth! Great colour choices. There's just something so wonderful about string quilts, isn't there?
ReplyDeletenice boy quilt! Strings are so fun to sew aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI've been away from blogland for a couple of weeks now. I went back to see the beginnings of this quilt and found I quite like the strips of strings as a quilt top. This may be what gets me back to the sewing machine!
ReplyDeleteI love your string quilt :-)
