Monday Making

It's time for Monday Making link up already!

My daughter delivered twin boys this past Monday
so I've been KIND OF busy.  LOL!

I came prepared to sew during nap time...but the sewing machine here
is not cooperating.

Good thing I brought a lot of hand work!

These embroidery blocks have been in the UFO pile a long time.
Maybe I'll finish! ?????

Question:
Does anyone know what the dotted lines in the middle and sides are for?
Are they for quilting?
That's what I've always assumed...but now I'm wondering....

What are YOU making this week??

Monday Making

I was so happy to begin a FUN quilt this week.
A quilt that was inspired by a picture on instagram
by  @piecingpassion.

After making the 9 blocks above...
I used an instagram app
and played around.
Look what happened?

I am so excited to GROW this quilt.

What are YOU making this week??

I hope you will link up and share.

Monday Making

Happiness is making a little quilt to give away!!!

I made this using scraps (of course)
sewn onto a 6" piece of batting
"Quilt as you go" style.

Did you guess it's for a man??
You were RIGHT.
;)

What are YOU making today??

Monday Making

I am working these days on a commissioned quilt.
A tie quilt.

It is keeping my mind grounded as I await the upcoming arrival of
THREE grand babies!

Remember the old saying
"A watched pot never boils"?

I think I'm "watching" my daughters' pregnancies a little too closely.
They are NOT having the babies no matter HOW MUCH I watch think about it!

I figured the one expecting twins would come early
and I could lend a hand.
There's very little Grandma can do in the waiting time...
except...
QUILT!!!

I am thankful for this quilt that is giving me something to do as I wait.

For those interested in the process:
I have disassembled a WHOLE mess of ties
and cut them into 2" wide strips.

I am using a cotton foundation 12" x 12"
I then need to trim to 11"x 11"
because...
Ties are SLIPPERY and do not cooperate like our much loved cotton fabric.

There is also the fact that when cutting those 2" strips
most of the fabric is cut on the BIAS
and stretches out immediately.
In other words....
at the slightest TOUCH!
LOL!

What are YOU making this week???

Next week this linky party will begin a bit late due to some travel plans.

Thank you to ALL who link up
and then encourage all the quilters with your kind words.

There's a very sweet spirit among all of you.

I enjoy all the mutual ooohs and aaahs
that float around at all the quilty internet addresses.

It is a great place to travel around virtually when the world seems so crazy.
