I DID cut some purples

I have a nice stack started
and look forward to adding to it this week!

May YOUR new year hold
LOTS and LOTS of

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Everyone!
Thanks to all who participated in the Christmas quilt show!
Wasn't that fun??

The presents are under the tree.
The kids are all here.
The cookies have been dipped
and sprinkled.

The block print tree came home this week in a backpack.
It is SUCH a miracle that it is so perfect.
No wrinkles or stains.
I LOVE it.
Probably one of my all time favorite
SCHOOL art projects.

The vintage winter scene is on my wall.
I love the snow, the birds, the sled.

I am going to SOAK in the time spent with family.

May the Peace that Christ brings
be with you!

Christmas Quilt Show

Welcome to the CHRISTMAS QUILT SHOW!

I have just a few quilts that I like to pull out at
Christmas time.

This quilt incorporates paper pieced stars
PLUS a little applique.

This is a calendar quilt I designed a few years ago.
Each month has a special chair.

This is for December.
Cookies and milk for Santa.
This is a quilt I like to hang on the wall.

And then there are the quilts that STILL
need to be quilted!
;)
I love the vintage pictures on this scrappy quilt!

Now it's YOUR TURN!

Please link up and share YOUR Christmas quilts!

Last minute

If you're scurrying around
trying to figure out WHAT to MAKE...???
Look no further!

We all want to make SOMETHING!!!
But it's hard to come up with
QUICK and EASY sometimes, right?

This gift is so practical
and ANYONE with a kitchen will appreciate it!!
:)

I am hoping to pull out my wood burner
and add a decorated wooden spoon to this gift.
We'll see if TIME allows.

I was GIFTED this fun fabric recently.
It is the PERFECT kind of accent
for the inexpensive bar towels I bought at walmart!!!
You might want to step it up on the quality of towel.
Haha!!!

I cut SIX strips 2 1/2"
sewed the strips together
and then cut 3 1/2" segments.

I turned under the edges with my iron
and top stitched them to the towels.
SO. simple.

I just wish I had purchased MORE TOWELS!!!!

Good luck to YOU on those last minute projects
you want to make and GIVE!

++++++++++++++

Please stop by tomorrow and add
YOUR CHIRISTMAS QUILT(s) to the SHOW I will be hosting here!!

Linky for Christmas quilt show
will be open December 17-24.

We look forward to seeing those holiday QUILTS!!!

December is here

As our family grows....
the stocking supply needs to be expanded.

I made these stockings with an old
chenille-like bedspread, felt and some stitching.
They kind of go along with the vintage knit ones
we already have.
At least they don't CLASH with them!
:)
I"m so proud to be doing this
BEFORE Christmas eve!
Hahah.

I also finished a beanie this week.
I used a VERY simple pattern,
Ribbed cap, found in a library book.
But...
I used TWO different colors.
I love the way it turned out!!

When the Christmas Making is done
I want to get back to THIS!
:)

Monday Making

Opportunities to make and GIVE potholders
keep popping up!!!
I am EMBRACING them!
:)

This little pair began with an old quilty experiment.
I found the wavy pieces in my scrap basket.
WOW!
That meant ALL I had to do was make a little
Potholder "sandwich"
Quilt
( I used wavy lines)
Trim
and then...
Bind!!

Viola.

Wish ALL my little gifties were that easy.

What are YOU making this week???

Small finishes

This is the time of year we MAKERS
do a lot of MAKING!
I've been doing a little bit of this
and....
a little bit of THAT.

I love the colors in this small potholder...
Don't you?

That center spot of color POPS inside the soft blue!

This table runner has been in my MIND
for quite a while now.

I wanted to merge some silver sparkly yarn
as the warp
and weave SOMETHING into it.

The question was WHAT color??

I finally decided on this soft greenish gray cotton.

It is a simple blend of color.
Soft and serene.

Weaving is sort of like knitting.
Peaceful and contemplative.
Just right during this busy season.

This table runner is now in my etsy shop.

Monday Making

I have been hand quilting NON-stop.
My "H" quilt has taken a back seat
while I work on this one.

I was camping with family over the holiday weekend.
This little quilt was the perfect SIZE to take along
and work on.

I will continue this week because
THE FINISH IS IN SIGHT!!!
Yeah!

What are YOU making this week??
I bet many of you are working on Christmas things.
Link up and share.

Monday Making

Remember my "H" quilt?

I've stalled a few times with this one
as decisions come up.

First there was the border to figure out.
Then....how to quilt???

The borders are on.
Mustard cotton is from a table cloth
found at the thrift store!

The bigger appliqued circles
are vintage yo-yos given to me a long time ago!

I LOVE re-purposing and using
someone else's leftovers.

ALL the H's are quilted!
Yeah!
I had a hard time deciding HOW to quilt them...
but once I got going it took less time then I anticipated.

Now I'm working on the border.
It will be QUITE a while before THAT part gets done.
I am mostly ECHO quilting the vine and circles.

What are YOU making this week??

Little Finishes

This week I was able to finish a few small things.

Potholders for new members at my church
were first on the list.
Nothing fancy.
Just plain ol' scraps
and an old (clean) towel for batting.

I did add some fun flowers to the back!

I enjoy giving these little "somethings" away.
I add the church cookbook,
so I hope it feels like a welcome from EVERYONE!

I also finished a small vest I've been working on.
These little baby vests are SO addictive.

They're small, a portable project and CUTE!!
Pattern for this newborn vest is FREE here.
I am tempted to buy a pattern with the larger sizes!

I also made cookies.
I blame pinterest for these RICH cookies!

The picture GRABBED me and I couldn't rest until they were made.

:)

Auction in progress

The nonprofit Quilt Alliance launched it's annual auction this week.
The theme is VOICES
and you can find my quilt,
as well as many others, HERE.

They were ALL on display at the
INTERNATIONAL QUILT FESTIVAL
a couple of weeks ago.
I would have loved to see the quilts in person!

and Sharing the history of QUILTS

Monday Making

Every year, about this time, I get to thinking about the graduation quilts
that I traditionally make for high school graduates at my church.

This is what THINKING looks like.  :)

The log cabin-esque blocks are very free form
and have not been trimmed yet.

Making this kind of quilt block is a natural for me.
It requires:
NO pre-planning.
NO special rulers.
NO THINKING.

Most of the strips were cut with scissors
as I sat at the sewing machine.

This is the "fabric" of choice piled on the floor
and on the table.

Lots of old shirts plus an assortment of scraps
and some striped yardage.

For some ODD reason
I'm saving the cuffs, collars and tags.

I DID make a tag quilt once and dream I might do it again!
But the cuffs and collars???
Ah well.
Maybe I'll be inspired someday.
HAHA!

This is last week's work.
I put ALL the little triangles together
and this is ALL I got.
It's too small at this point.....
so....
I will let it simmer in the "TO FINISH someday" pile for a while.

What are YOU making???
