Pink stars quilt along block #10

Today is the very last block in our little quilt along!
It is called “variable star” and is just like the first block...
Except for the color choices.
🙂

You will need (from top left ...counter clockwise)

One (1) 3 1/2” square - medium pink
Four (4) 3 1/2” squares - background

One (1) 4 3/4” square - background
One (1) 4 3/4” square - medium pink
Two (2) 4 3/4” squares - dark pink

Take all four larger squares (4 3/4”)
Stack right side up.
Cut twice diagonally.

Each set of triangles makes ONE hourglass block.

Sew four hourglass blocks together.

Trim to 3 1/2” x 3 1/2”

Arrange them into this beautiful star block!
Make TWO.

If you’ve been following along you will have 20 star blocks.

We’ll be adding sashing next.
👍

PINK STARS quilt along - block #8

I brought my sewing outside today.
:)

Today I'm sharing with you the
PINK STARS quilt along block #8.
These are the cutting and sewing requirements
to go along with the YOUTUBE video posted earlier.

This block is called KEY LIME PIE.
It is 9 1/2" unfinished like all the previous blocks.

For each block you will need:
(left to right)
ONE (1) 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" Square - light mustard
TWO (2) 2" x 16 1/2" strips - one background and one darker mustard
TWO (2) 4 5/8" x 4 5/8" squares - one background and one mustard/rust
TWO (2) 4 1/8" x 4 1/8" - pink squares

I switched my colors around on the two blocks I made.
Make it YOUR OWN and have FUN!!

Both the 4 1/8" and 4 5/8" squares do NOT need to be cut exact.
I'm adding 1/8" to give you "elbow" room for the block
It will be trimmed to 3 1/2" when it's all together!
You could even begin with a larger square if you'd like.
;)

Cut 4 5/8" squares in half TWICE

Cut 4 1/8" squares in half ONCE

Arrange and sew together.

You will have FOUR (4) pinwheel type squares.

trim to 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"

Sew 2" strips together

Sub-cut into 2" segments

You will have EIGHT (8) segments

Make FOUR (4) four patches

Arrange your block and sew together

Make TWO if you are joining in the quilt along!

Happy sewing friends!
