Today’s quilt block is called
“54-40 or fight”
It is the NINTH quilt block
In the PINK STARS quilt along.
There will be only ONE more quilt block
Before we get them ALL together into a quilt!
You will need
Two (2) strips - 2” x 20 1/2” - (1) mustard, (1) background
Four (4) squares - 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” - background
Four (4) rectangles - 3 1/2” x 4 1/2” - pink
Sew two long strips together.
Sub-cut into 2” segments.
You need 10
Make FIVE (5) four patches.
Lay (2) sets of pinks together - right side up (2) in each stack
Cut diagonally OPPOSITE ways.
YOu will have two (2) stacks of FOUR (4)
Mark 1/4” up from raw edge in the CENTER of square.
Fold in half to find center.
Draw 2 lines from corners THROUGH the pencil mark.
Pencil line is the BACK SIDE of your square
Lay star point on the FRONT of the square.
Use the pencil lines as your guide as you sew star points down.
Fold star points out.
Make sure the area is covered.
Turn to wrong side and use the square as your guide.
Trim star point fabric excess away.
One star point done.
Trim excess fabric behind if you prefer.
Do it again with second star point.
Make FOUR (4)
Arrange your block.
Sew together.
ONE MORE BLOCK TO GO!!!
