Thursday Thoughts.

I now have THREE pineapple blocks.
"Do I stop here and make a table runner...
Or keep going and make a quilt???"

Lots of 2" squares that now measure about
60 something inches by 80 something inches.

"Oh boy! I want this to be queen size....
I thought I was closer than that...
I've got a long way to go still!!" :(

A little mug rug or wall hanging being created by my friend's daughter.
"I can't believe a 7 Year old did such
NEAT stitching!!!"
Inspired by this book.

"That chicken and dumplings last night was
THE BEST EVER!!!"
"Think I"ll have some leftovers today!"

What are your thoughts today???

Here's the recipe for the chicken and dumplings.
It doesn't look like much....but it was amazing!!
I looked high and LOW for the recipe on-line...
Since I couldn't find it...
"I'll have to type it in."
"Am I getting lazy??"
"Naw."

Crockpot Chicken and Dumplings

1 potato, peeled and chopped
3 carrots, sliced
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 c. mushrooms, if desired
(14 oz.) Chicken broth
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. dried thyme leaves
1/8 tsp. pepper
2 lb. boneless, skinless chicken, cut into 2" pieces

cook on low 6-8 hours

(9 oz.) frozen peas

add peas 1 hour before you're ready to serve
and turn crockpot up to HIGH.

1 1/2 c. bisquick
1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. butter, melted

In small bowl combine these ingredients for the dumplings.
Drop by Tablespoon onto hot bubbling chicken mixture.
Cover and cook on high for the last 20-25 minutes.

Serves 4-5

Enjoy. This is the PERFECT comfort food!!!

  1. I love your pineapple blocks, and everything else you are working on! My question is, did you ever receive any more pictures of the quilts people made from the house blocks? I would love to be able to see my block as part of a whole quilt! :)

  2. Mmmmm.....that recipe sounds so yummy! Thanks for sharing...I'm going to get a recipe card now. Did you know that I am making a quilt with 2 inch blocks too! I'm at the stage of sewing my 4 squares into 16 squares....I'm trying for a twin size. Slow and steady wins the race!

  3. That recipe looks awesome - and I've been looking for crock pot recipes since my local grocery store quit carrying the ready-made frozen ones! I'll give this one a try, for sure. I love your pineapple blocks - they would make a great table runner - probably a great quilt, too! I love your postage stamp quilt - had you thought about the possibility of doing something really modern to it - like wide random sashing separating chunks of the little blocks - to increase the size of it? Just an idea - I love the idea of an all-over postage stamp quilt too, I'd just never have the patience to finish a queen size one!

  4. I vote for a quilt with those pineapples - how fun an cheerful that would be to snuggle up under! Great job on the 2" squares. And yum! Crockpot recipes are my favorite. Of course, my crock pot is currently in the fridge half filled with a delicious 15-bean soup that I made that no one else in the family will eat (ungrateful wretches!). That's OK - lunch for a week!

  5. I would love it as a runner... but that's just my opinion. I think it would be GrEaT in any project. Love the "Tea O'Clock" and such tidy work. Interesting post! Thanks.

  6. Those are beautiful pineapple blocks, awesome colors! They would make a pretty quilt, but I'd prefer a table runner as they are so bright and cheerful to look at. Love the 2" square quilt, you are making progress- and it's looking awesome! Will have to try the crockpot recipe, love those so food is ready but I can quilt! =)

  8. Keep going on the pineapple; you are way more patient than me. I would never be able to make a 2" square quilt. It would be a runner for sure!
