Un-finished Friday

One week AWAY from a sewing machine...
and ALL I have to show for it
are some
UNFINISHED projects!!!

Crochet projects.
Yarn travels WELL.

I gave up ONE project because I forgot the right size crochet hook.
I gave up ANOTHER project because I gave the hook to my niece.
(good reason, right?)
That stopped me in my tracks on a couple of projects.
The GOOD news is
I DID finish a couple of scarves and ALREADY gave them away!
Hence...
No photo.

One week away from a  machine
and ALL I have to show for it is FABRIC!

You know...
I was NOT supposed to buy any this year.
(MY self imposed goal for the year)

But...
the polka dots above were needed for a backing.
Then....

These flannels were spied in the discount bin.

Along with ALL of these.

I couldn't say no.

My machine BECKONS!!!

Wednesday

No sewing today.
;(
I was way too busy to stitch even ONE seam!!!!....
No worries!!!
There's always time for fabric acquisition.
;)

I stopped off here between errands.
Buying fabric is KIND of like sewing...
Isn't it???

I WAS looking for some USEFUL fabric....
Thinking I'd get some GRAY for the backing of
my newest project.

I looked at all of these....
then decided to get the one on the left.

PLUS....
A BUNCH more I didn't need!
NO worries....
They were ALL on sale.
;)
EXCEPT the one I "needed"...
OF course!

An Early Celebration!

I'm a little surprised that there are almost 500 people
willing to listen to me .....BLAB....about quilting....sewing...life...etc.
I received some NEW fabric
and I can't wait to GIVE it AWAY!
So......EVEN though I don't have 500 followers YET....
I'm going to celebrate with YOU!!!
Nothing wrong with EARLY celebrations...
IS there???

This is a fabric that's....
PERFECT for a baby quilt.
AND....
you know I LOVE baby quilts!!!

Once Upon a Storybook fabric is from Windham fabrics.
A collection by Whistler Studios.
This sweet 1930's reproduction fabric is coming out in April.
Would you like to win a CHARM pack NOW???

I'll draw a winner on Friday.
Good Luck.
And Thank you.
It's so nice having you as friends here in blogland!!!

Fun Fabric!

The hardest part of a project is sometimes
CHOOSING the fabric.
I was overwhelmed with the choices
when I arrived at the fabric shop!!!!
I FINALLY settled on this one!

My friend Ellen had a birthday...
and since we prepare a meal for senior citizens twice a month...
an APRON seemed to be the perfect gift!!!!

You probably know......
I have PLENTY of fabric in my stash.
But.....
Nothing seemed QUITE right and....
I wanted to make this one SPECIAL!

I found a free pattern here.
and....

I have lots of bias tape.
Good thing!!!!
This pattern requires 7 yards of it!!!!!
Sheesh!
That's a lot of bias tape!

I love this apron.

Maybe I'll make one for me too!!!!
What????!!!!!
You think I have enough already????
:/

One week.

For one week...
I looked at beauty.

Alaskan BEAUTY!!

Such a well-tended garden!

I also ate the BEST seafood chowder EVER!!
I'm going to start looking for a RECIPE!!!
I want to eat this every day!

This guy was sooo cute!!!

I saw more green than I've ever seen!
GREEN!!!
GREEN!!!
GREEN!!!

I camped a little with my daughter.

And went to a few quilt shops.

You know you're a REAL quilter...
when .....
You go to quilt shops even on
NON-quilting Vacations!!
;)
That's what I thought, anyway.

I needed some more fabric for my joseph's coat.
 I was so happy...
why??....
It means I'm making progress!!!
;)

Had to buy some UNnecessary fabric....

Plus...
some more UNnecessary fabric.

Oooooh! and I read.
What a good book!!!
Now...

Back to my sewing machine!!!
I've missed her humming along!
I also missed the first ripe tomatoes!
AND......

I missed this.
Can you believe he painted while I was gone??
My HERO!!

Lavender

My friend asked me to make a quilt for her friend who is ill.
A LAVENDeR quilt.
Hmmmm......
I've got lots of lavender inspiration in my garden.

It's really my HUSBAND's garden.
I just get to enjoy the Fruit of his labors!!!

I get to look at this outside my kitchen window every morning!!!

Yes.
Lots of inspiration out there!!!

NOT in my fabric cupboard.
These are pretty....but...
 kind of blah...I think.
There's not a lot of singing going on in this fabric..
IS there???

Aaaaah!!!!
That's better.
I went shopping and found this.
This fabric is singing MY kind of song!!!

+++++++++++++++

NOTE!!!
I'm still getting comments with a NO REPLY setting.
That's O.K.....
Unless you need my address to send a quilt block!!! ;)

If you didn't get my address via email...
That means....
You're a NO REPLY blogger.
I couldn't send it to you!!
:(

Great news!!
I think we've got lots of blocks coming in the mail.
QUILT(s?) TO JAPAN....
HERE WE COME!!!

a village grows

Remember this quilt???

The new owner wanted it to be twin size....

so it had to grow...
I added a simple border today.
I'm so happy this quilt found a good home!!!
It's going to a lady who has been "looking out"
for my friend's college age daughter in far away Austria!!
(This even involved trips to the doctor!!)

She wants to give her a nice thank you gift.
I'm so pleased she chose this quilt!!!!

Now just take a look at the fabric I found for the backing!!!
Alexander Henry.
Mmmm...I don't usually brag about brands...
but this one is so  nice!!
You can tell it's QUALITY fabric.
Plus....The color and design JUST FIT this quilt to a "T".

O.K.
I've now got a backlog of quilts to quilt!!!!
Should I read more blogs...
Make comments on blogs.....
Make comments on comments.....
Or....
Do the right thing...and.....
Quilt????

I'm linking up with sarah today!
It's fun to cheer each other on!

$1 deal

I have been sooo good.
I have not purchased fabric in a while.
How long is a while??
I'm not sure...
But I know it was before Christmas...
At least!

You know.
I know.
We all know....
I have plenty!!!!
Then I saw these.
Remnants.
$1 a YARD.
Most are under a yard.
That = under a dollar for each piece.

What would you do???
;)
I DID TOO!!!

1 1/2" friends.
They always welcome me back.

This one just needs a white border.
I made a quilt like this earlier this year and
LOVED it.
So I'm making another!
It was a welcome way to avoid my "to do" list....
Let me tell you!!!

Little pieces of fabric.
Fat quarters = my weakness!!!

wednesday

The last couple of Wednesdays have been
wonderful wednesdays for me.
I was given a few more scraps again today.
Why do these little pieces of days gone by
get to me??
Why do I love them so much?
I don't know.
But I do.
There isn't much here.
I really want to go play with them right now!!!
But I can't.
I need to deal with THIS.

and this.

and this.

Lots of celery with no place to go.

I AM adding it to a recipe that doesn't call for it.
Hope the spaghetti sauce doesn't mind.

I'm chopping and dreaming of fabric.
Old fabric.
Beautiful fabric.

What kind of quilt block will I use it in?
What did someone use it for years ago?
I love to dream.
I'm going to add this to creative
spaces over at kootoyoo.
