Quilting for others gives me the opportunity
to use fabrics I probably wouldn't use for myself.
It stretches me.
Yeah! for that!!!
I have an old pattern for this block
but there was NO NAME on the pattern....
so I went searching for the NAME of this block.
Do you know what searching involves????
Yes.
It means looking at ALL your OLD quilting books.
Do I have to admit how many of those I have???
:/
I finally found something similar on this site.
Marcia uses 3 1/2" squares....
I used 2 1/2" squares....
and she calls it a "25 patch star".
Hopefully I'll be able to make four more blocks today.
My plan is to make TWO table runners
for TWO people who need a
VERY special thank you gift!!!
i know that block as "Sister's Choice"
ReplyDeletei like your blocks- the fabric combinations are beautiful!
thanks for sharing
You will finish. I know you will.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful, Beth - it's fun to try out old patterns, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWonderful blocks!! I like your use of the stripes in the first one. They'll make beautiful table runners!
ReplyDeleteThats a great block. I like to have an excuse to use different colors or fabrics too. I usually like them a lot!
ReplyDeleteIt's a variation of the Sister's Choice block - I just love those fabrics and colors.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's sister's choice. It was the first block in the Saturday Sampler I am going to. Easy to do and so pretty. I. Plan to make a quilt with this block pattern. I like to visit your blog!
ReplyDeleteYes Sister's Choice, always a lovely block. These are soft and charming. These runners should be smiles along with your thank you. Bonnie
ReplyDeleteSounds like you need a particular book on your shelves - Barbara Brackman's "Encyclopedia of Quilt Blocks." I find it's invaluable for this sort of research.
