I'm finally.... finally...finally....
getting some names on these stockings!!!
My husband's Aunt Kathleen made these many moons ago
and we received them one at a time as we
had children.
She died many years ago and then
Aunt Elizabeth made a few more to keep
up with the growth of each family.
I think she was given the secret recipe pattern.
Now that Aunt Elizabeth can't knit anymore...
What am I going to do????
I want to keep adding to this group as
the children get married and have children of their own.
Hnmmm...
I didn't make the first few like Carla did at her house.
I can't replicate these Kitschy Classics.
What am I going to do????
I bet you've got some ideas perculating out there in blogland....
What are they???
Neigborhood News:
Here's a lovely house from Australia!
Maria was worried I hadn't received it.
I had.
Plus I wanted to let you know....
A few of our neighbors are a little worried about
their houses arriving late
sooooo...
I made an executive decision...
sooooo...
I made an executive decision...
NOT my favorite thing to do.
I've decided to wait until Tuesday to draw winners.
You never know
Mail can be delayed.....
And I didin't want anyone to miss out!
I'm hoping to get the neighborhood
all laid out on my living room floor tomorrow, though!!
I think I'll be able to get
the entire room covered in houses!!!
OOoooh! How fun!!!
That is an old Bernet knitting pattern. Ask me how I know?
ReplyDeleteBeth,
ReplyDeleteI am so excited! I have not even participated in this fun event but so curious to know how many houses it takes to build a village!
Happy New Year!
I absolutely adore those knitted stockings. My friend, Jan, has many that look so similar. Her MIL, who died recently, made each one. She's going to be in the same predicament....I'm anxious to hear what you come up with....wish I could knit like that! (I'm also keeping my fingers crossed that some of that neighborhood ends up in my neck of the woods!
ReplyDeleteYou will take pics pleeeeeease.
ReplyDeleteGreat stockings! Hope my block arrives in time...I didn't even get a good picture in case it gets lost. Can't wait to see the pics of them all. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWondeful stockings. There must be a pattern out there somewhere.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see a picture of all of the houses!!
Happy New Year to you and your family!!
Hi Beth, you're so blessed to have all those stockings, they are beautiful. If you don't knit, maybe some who knits will step forward and consider making them for you. Your neighborhood houses are adorable, wish I would have joined in time to play. If you decide to do another round, I would love to join in. Wishing you and yours a Healthy and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing the houses laid out too!!
ReplyDeleteThose knitted stocking are so gorgeous!! You'll have so much fun laying out all those houses. I like knowing there's another house from Australia.
ReplyDeleteMy children and I (and my DH) have stockings my mother knitted but the pattern is even older than yours I believe. And I don't know who has it now. I am off the hook as far as my first grandchildren are concerned because one of their aunts is making stockings for them as they appear. Whew!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you made this executive decision to postpone the drawing. More blocks means more winners! Plus, I didn't miss the big event while I was so distracted by family and the holidays ;- )
