Get well Quilt

Whenever I find out someone is in the hospital...
I have a VERY strong URGE!
I move VERY QUICKLY to my stacks of fabric
and begin THINKING!!!!
(I don't always ACT on this urge...
but it's always THERE!)

"Can I get a quilt together in time???"
"Is there something HERE that she/he will like???"
"Will I be able to get it together IN TIME????"

It really doesn't matter HOW long it takes...
Since the recipient has NO IDEA I'm making it!!!
:)

This time I had just received a HUGE pile of fabric
given to me to make donation quilts!
Perfect timing!

I wasn't too sure a young girl would like the fabric....

So I added the flowers to Perk it up!!!!
Flowers were added with fusible web...
then I just quilted right on top of them.

Once I did THAT....
I couldn't resist quilting flowers
ALL OVER the quilt!!!
It was just like doodling!
And...
I love the way it looks. ;)

I DID finish this quilt...
and was able to hand deliver it yesterday!!!
I'm always AMAZED at how HAPPY
giving a quilt away
makes ME!!!!

  2. Wow, the appliqued flowers and the quilting took this lovely but gender neutral quilt to a girly quilt very effiecently.

Do you long arm or standard machine your doodles, they are great.

  5. My daughter's favorite colors are blue and green... Of course, she isn't a little girl anymore. You made a wonderful quilt for that little one. The flowers make it! Happy as you are to give it, I'll bet she is twice as happy to have it. (It takes a village, indeed.)
    Hugs!

  8. That's a sweet quilt, Beth. I sweet thought, too. Such a good idea to have some quilts made up. With blue/green, you could have made it for a boy just as easily as you made it for a girl.

  19. wonderful quilt! and a most wonderful gift! there are times, like these, that i long for the old days when i pieced and quilted by machine. you can zip along (when the spirit and flesh are willing) and create such amazing beauty! now that i hand stitch nearly 100% of the time, such impulses are impossible to act on. but they still occur...tempting me into dusting off one of my long neglected machines...
