Bow Ties

The beauty of a quilt bee is This:
You get to make things you NEVER would have made before!

Helen has a great tutorial on her blog
with instructions to make these
Dimensional bow ties.
Very easy and kind of
impressive looking!
hmm?

This bee is all about pieced fabric!
So we've all been trying to come up with
projects using "made fabric".

Helen wants whites, lights, or...
as she described them...."milkshake" colors.

Here's a nice big piece....
Light...right??

Well...I don't have a lot of these colors
in my scrap basket so I
Used the WRONG side.

Here's the RIGHT side of some of that fabric.
Sometimes the wrong side of the fabric is what you WANT!!!

You can see I'm letting some of my seams
go this way and that and basically
"Do their own thing!"

Yes! there's freedom in quilting!!
Seams....
fabric.....

One of my favorite things about quilting is
that often times....
WRONG is sometimes RIGHT!!!!
In fact.....
almost nothing is
WRONG
if you want it to be RIGHT!!!!

Did I say that right? ;)

  1. Whaaaaat?
Yes you did say that right.
Are you using a modern version or the Y seam pattern?
Can't wait to see your quilt from these blocks.

  2. Thanks for the tip, I am a little short of milkshake colours, too!

  3. I've done that myself - sometimes it's the only way to find just the right fabric, or utilize something you might otherwise not use! I love your milkshake colors - very pretty!

  5. I'm trying to find neutrals for some of my projects -- maybe I need to start looking at the wrong sides.
