Bow Ties

I was able to complete 2 small finishes this week.
Two little quilts.
They are what I like to call "table mats".

I used the SAME set of leftover bow tie blocks to make both of these.

Isn't it AMAZING how different they turned out??

Hand quilting these little quilts
makes them EXTRA special.

I'm making about 10-12
little table mats for an auction in the spring.
Hoping to get a nice variety of quilts
using UP the myriad of scraps that FILL my bins!
So far I have 4 made with one needing to be quilted!

Hope they find HAPPY HOMES!

I'm WAY ahead of schedule.
but knowing me..
I'll still need a few more by the time the deadline arrives.
We all work GREAT under pressure, right??
;)

(The bow ties are all 4 1/2" square.
The borders I added are 2" wide.
Both of these little quilts measure almost 20"x 20")

Bow Ties

The beauty of a quilt bee is This:
You get to make things you NEVER would have made before!

Helen has a great tutorial on her blog
with instructions to make these
Dimensional bow ties.
Very easy and kind of
impressive looking!
hmm?

This bee is all about pieced fabric!
So we've all been trying to come up with
projects using "made fabric".

Helen wants whites, lights, or...
as she described them...."milkshake" colors.

Here's a nice big piece....
Light...right??

Well...I don't have a lot of these colors
in my scrap basket so I
Used the WRONG side.

Here's the RIGHT side of some of that fabric.
Sometimes the wrong side of the fabric is what you WANT!!!

You can see I'm letting some of my seams
go this way and that and basically
"Do their own thing!"

Yes! there's freedom in quilting!!
Seams....
fabric.....

One of my favorite things about quilting is
that often times....
WRONG is sometimes RIGHT!!!!
In fact.....
almost nothing is
WRONG
if you want it to be RIGHT!!!!

Did I say that right? ;)
