First, I did what I had to do.That is....bake a cake for a neighbor in need.
I knew a whole cake was probably going to be too big,
and I Selfishly wanted some too.
You can't really give someone a cake with a piece or pieces taken out

So I bought another bundt pan and
experimented.
I DO like to DO THAT!!
Instead of one cake.
I made two...but I didn't double the recipe!
It worked!
I now have two little cakes
that still look cute.
A little short....but cute.

Now I have a pile of blocks.

Oh, good idea to make two cakes from one recipe...nice to know it works out, I'll have to try that sometime! Yum...looks tasty!

ReplyDeleteGreat scrap blocks. I think scraps must be the very best part of quilting. First you make a quilt with the fabric you buy, then the next one from the scraps is free. Can't beat that.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! What I do with a cake that is too big for whoever I'm taking it to is to cut it into slices and place them on a nice plate with Saran wrap over them! This way I can give some to more than one person or family (or maybe just keep a little for us!!;) )!

ReplyDeleteThose baskets look great for storing WIPs; they don't take up as much space as boxes with lids. Maybe my table-tower would benefit from a little basket investment.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea to make 2 small cakes instead of one big. Most of the time only half the cake gets eaten anyway, and this way you can put a whole cake in the freezer instead a half eaten one - if you're not giving it away. I can almost smell yours all the way up here.-)
