I was stitching away.....
Making lots and lots and lots...
of aprons!!
I imagined, as I sewed away, that I was in a sweatshop.
So..... I looked up the definition in good ol' Webster's.
So..... I looked up the definition in good ol' Webster's.
Sweatshop:
Small manufacturing establishment employing workers under
unfair and unsanitary conditions.
Well.
I guess only part of that was true.
I was a small manufacturing establishment,
but the only unsanitary thing about my place
was the sink full of unwashed dishes and the floor full of
trimmings and pieces of thread.
It wasn't unfair because I readily
VOLUNTEERED!!!
I can now make an apron...
IN MY SLEEP!
See?
I didn't even have enough friends to model the aprons!
This picture made my labor worth it!
They had fun donning these aprons that are on their way
to a Jr. High performance of "Annie"...
This week!!!
The SHOW MUST GO ON!!!
What a great picture.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely thing to do. I used to make and sell appliqued clothing at weekend festivals, so I know just how that "sweatshop" feeling comes around!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who sews costumes for school productions, and your post totally reminded me of her stories (and her good humor doing the work). You made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteDid you get that feeling of "what did I do to myself?" in the middle of making all of them? I know I've had that feeling LOL.
ReplyDeleteThey look wonderful though and I'm sure they are much appreciated!
Jennifer :)
