Snowball Weather.

Snowball blocks!
It's that time of year, right?

I began with a 5" square
and used 1 3/4" white squares in the corners.

Pressed them back and trimmed the excess.

I found that putting 1 3/4" squares in the corner
was a LOT different than using 2" squares.

I was AMAZED at how a little 1/4" can make
such a BIG difference!!!!
The 1 3/4" white squares are on the LEFT.
The 2" white squares are on the RIGHT.

The difference is not QUITE as obvious here....
but....
I liked the 1 3/4" better.
Too bad....
because I have a nice big box full of 2" squares
ALREADY cut!!!

Now to figure out how to quilt this sweet little baby quilt!!!

  2. Oh yes, I love snowball quilts! And they are so very easy!! Worked on one this past week at retreat that we are making for a lovely lady who lost her husband last year. Can't wait to finish it up and give it to her!

  4. Ooooh -- pretty! I like the 1 3/4" squares better too. You could always trim down what you've got cut to 2", if you're that desperate. I'd cut new squares. :-)

  5. It's definitely appropriate as we are getting a heavy snowfall as I write this. How sweet for a baby quilt.

  6. Love the quilt. I made one each for my grandkids in their favorite colors a few years ago. They loved them. I used 1 1/2 inch corners on a five inch snowball. I should put them on the blog one of these days. I have prints, so will have to scan them into the computer.... wish me luck. First I have to find the pics.
Anyway, love your colors. I must get me some lighter colors. Shopping!!!!
    Hugs!
