I made this very quickly when she was diagnosed with cancer
2 years ago.
I really wanted her to know right away that she was loved
and that I would be praying for her.
I used a bunch of 5" squares that had been collected at a swap.
I love all those flowers.
It's pretty small in size so that it could travel with her
to chemotherapy and hospital visits.
I used warm and natural batting.
Is that the culprit??
What batting do you use?
I hope you leave me a comment and let me know
YOUR choice of batting
and WHY you like it.
I read at an antique Amish Quilt show that you are supposed to regularly change the way you fold your quilts, about every 3 months or so, that way they do not get those creases. I don't think it has anything to do with the batting. But then I could be wrong on the batting. When I am not using my quilts they go on the guest bed so I do not have to fold them at all.
ReplyDeleteHope this helps.
Merry Christmas! :)
I agree with Summer, I think the crease is from being folded the same way all the time. Changing the fold (or washing) should make the old crease relax.
ReplyDeleteI use lots of different batts. I recycle flannel sheets for batting a lot. Other people use old blankets, or mattress pads, which make great batts. My friend Debra quilted a quilt for me recently and used an old thermal blanket, and the drape is fabulous. Once in awhile I'll use a new batt--usually warm and natural, but mostly I like to reuse something.
No input on the batting but that quilt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI use warm and natural/white all the time and have never had a problem. I was going to offer the same advice about folding the quilt different ways. It's a very pretty quilt!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is lovely.
ReplyDeleteAll I see is a beautiful quilt. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI usually use Warm & Natural because it is easiest to quilt, and I like the crinkly look once it's been washed. Poly batting is much warmer and fluffy, but it is very hard to quilt because of the thickness. I agree, washing should fix this. I leave my smaller quilts draped on the couch, etc. for the kids to play with, then they don't get those pesky creases! =)
