My son is SOON to be a responsible adult.

:)

I've been collecting things for him

as he gets ready for the BIG move.

I've ALSO been MAKING things.

Mom has to MAKE something to mark the occasion!

I took some orphan blocks....

cut them up and put them BACK TOGETHER!!!

I then layered toweling and denim (old jeans).

Then I quilted and bound.

'

I love them.

I also used my spare parts bin.

I now have a jar that holds pieces of dissected shirts!

The collars, the cuffs, etc!!

See those little strips for hanging??

Those were part of an old shirt

and were SO handy to use!

The potholders are ready!

and the kitchen stuff is getting collected.

Monday Making

This week...

I hope to make a bunch of these little blocks....

So that I can join them up like this...

and HOPEFULLY it will grow into a quilt!!!

I DID take a class last week

and THOUGHT I'd be making a Bonnie Hunter design.

But....You know me!

I HAD to be DIFFERENT.

That's always more FUN!!

This week I was able to use an old shirt

for my latest t-shirt bag!!

Life was giving me some BIG events.

Now that I've been able to catch my breath...

My son has his first REAL job after college 

teaching in Arizona

My daughter will be moving to El Paso

with her husband who will be stationed there.

(He's an Occupational therapist in the army)

When adult children are experiencing change

in their lives...

MOM FEELS IT!

Monday Making

It's been a LONG time since I've been able 

to sew ALL day long with a group of quilters.

Friday, I was able to join in a class with

Bonnie Hunter!!

I came home with a few blocks done...

and can't STOP sewing!

:)

Now that we know what I'll be doing...

What are you going to be working on this week??

It won't be ALL sewing.

I also need to cook once in a while.

The garden keeps producing!!!

What do YOU see when you spy vintage linens??

I see POSSIBILITY!

I see little zipper bags.

I see aprons.

I see BIG zipper bags.  :)

I"m taking my new zipper bag to a sewing day today.

Monday Making

This quilt celebrates my LOVE of scraps.

It contains BLUE and quite a few plaids and stripes.

(as in old shirts!)

I DO love re-purposing.

I'm calling this quilt  "HIGH TIDE".

The pattern is based on the classic disappearing 4 patch.

Instead of all squares, I used some rectangles.

I was even able to print up a pattern

and get it in my shop!

That's something to be excited and nervous about.  

:)

I backed this one with some chunks of blue and tan.

Don't you love interesting BACKS???

Starry night

Once in a while....

a LONELY quilt top

finds a new home.

This one needed to GROW to be full size.

It was a challenge finding JUST the right fabrics

to compliment the center quilt.

Thankfully....

I found some fabrics that I'm really happy with.

I opted for SIMPLE border strips.

Hey!

I EVEN attempted Mitered corners on that last border

and did an O.K. job of it!!!

Next up...

I'll have to figure out how I'm going to quilt this big one!

This week I hope to GROW a quilt top.

It's been in my quilt top pile for a while

and NOW is the time!!

I had a special request for THIS quilt 

and it needs to be adjusted to FULL size.

I had just a bit of trouble finding some matching fabric

for the border in my stash...

(amazing, but true)

so OFF to the fabric store I went.

Sticker SHOCK is what I got.!!

I don't buy fabric often enough to

appreciate how much it costs!!

;)

Maybe it's because

I bought THREE different fabrics

since I couldn't decide on ONE!

LOL!
