UFO-ing

O.k.
These are NOT my colors...
but....

I can.NOT. resist someone else's
unfinished project when it's given to me!!!!

I can't say NO!!!

I see ALL the possibilities!
I wonder WHAT it will look like!
It's  a challenge to take the little pieces
and
try to solve the puzzle!

As you can probably GUESS....
There is NEVER a pattern included
in these little packages!
;/

That's alright.
I have a THINKING floor.
A place to DREAM.
A place to PONDER.

???How will they look
ALL lined up together...

With some wide strips of fabric (from the stash)
between and around???

I think it looks WONDERFUL!
Even if it isn't MY color!

A dress!

Once in a while...

the dress gets made.....

before the little girl.....

grows OUT of the pattern!!!!

This time it was made JUST in time!!
But....
Now that the weather is cooler...
the DRESS needs an undershirt!!!
;)

Notice the blue sleeves???
LOL!!!

For you!

After making my block wall quilt...
I still had lots of fabric left over....
 Enough fabric to make TWO more quilts!
Amazing....right?
And...
It was mostly hand-me-down fabric!
I love using UP!!!!

I sat down right away
and pre-cut strips for the TWO quilts.

I have one set aside
for a sewing day at church.

and....

I have one for YOU!!!

It's my way of saying
thank you
to all my blogland friends for always
being so nice.

You're also saving
my family and freinds
from hours and hours
of quilty jabber!!!!

They thank you too!!!
LOL!

If you'd like to win a pack of strips..
leave a comment.
I'll use Mr. Random Generator
to choose a winner on Friday.

Happy Sewing!

Unscheduled activity

I never even THOUGHT about making a quilt like this
until...
Yesterday!!!
That's the day I recieved a "just because" package from Beebee.
;)
Very SWEET of her TOO, I might add!!!

But....
This unexpected burst of quilting is
ALL because of HER!!
If the floors aren't clean
and the bathroom is not scrubbed...
Don't blame me!
Blame her....Please.

She sent me some tumblers
cut with her Go cutter.
Do you have one of those??
I don't.

I have this little baby....
Handed down to me a couple of years ago.

I've never used it.
But guess what??
It's the SAME SIZE as Beebee's little tumblers.
:)

Now I'm puttering around
on a quilt that NEVER would have happened...
if it hadn't been for a
special delivery..
quilty gift...
sent by a blog friend.
Sweet!

Block Wall quilt

Friends.
I think this is one of the EASIEST quilts I've ever made.

I make a lot of easy quilts.
But..... I think....this one was the speediest of ALL!

I gave a brief "how to" here.
;)

And..... I think it's gorgeous!!!!

It will be a GREAT boy's quilt.
My daughter even paid me a HUGE compliment
and said it was the BEST boy quilt I've made.
Woo HOO!!!
10 POINTS!!!!

I have enough fabric to make one
and maybe even TWO more!!!
Hey!
I'm thinking IF I have enough fabric...
I'll cut some up and have a little give away!
Then...
You can make one TOO....
and confirm the simplicity of this pattern!!!
:)

Here's another reason to cheer!
I USED UP a bunch of BOBBINS!!!!

You know the bobbins that have
red, orange, green....etc. thread
and...
don't match anything????

Here's the proof that I'm not a THREAD color SNOB.
;)
LOL!

Happy quilting!
I'm OFF to cut some more strips!
All those solids
and
SORT of solids
are waiting to be another QUILT!!!

Table Runner

On Monday I related a story about
 making something handmade
for my daughter to take to a party.

well....
She doesn't always ask ME to do the work...
;)

Sometimes SHE makes it!!!

Yes.
It made me VERY happy to have her ask to USE my new loom
and...
to see her using IT!!!!!.
:)

She whipped up this gorgeous runner
for a special friend's wedding

The whipping DID take a bit of TIME!!!

It's not only beautiful....

and HAPPY looking....

It's the perfect gift for the new couple!!!

Here's a LINK to the groom's business!
I think his pottery is going to be
~~~~~SINGING ~~~~~
as it sits on this new TABLE RUNNER!
Early Morning Sewing
I couldn't sleep last night.
Ever have those nights???
I got up WELL before dawn today and began
building a WALL.
**Every year I make quilts for the high school graduates
at my church....(with the help of others!)
and THIS year the youth group has
EXPLODED!!!!**
I figured I'd better get GOING.....
I don't want to be caught without a QUILT
for someone
at the end of this school year!!!
;)
I had these "building blocks" already cut...
so it was a simple matter to begin piecing them
when sleep wouldn't come.
Blocks were constructed by using
4" strips (width of fabric)
and
3" strips (width of fabric)
Two were sewn together and pressed.
Then I cut the "Blocks" into 8" segments.
I was able to get 5 "BLOCKS" out of each strip set.
Then....
just for fun.....
I made some with
2" strips  (width of fabric)
and
5" strips (width of fabric)
Again....
I cut them into 8" chunks.
I am now constructing my WALL...
I'll let you know when the mortar is SET.
;)
