monday making - sue and scrappy blocks

These little sunbonnet sues came to live at my house this week.
I found just SEVEN blocks at a local garage sale.

After laying them out on the floor...I decided I needed ONE more!
I wanted to make the NEW block as close to the originals as possible.
I added a little HOW TO on my youtube channel. 😊

Next up I need to figure out an alternate block
and make a QUILT!!

I also played around with this block.

It's called Crossroads and I sure do like the scrappy version.

The TWO color version is nice too.

Such a simple little block with SO MANY possibilities!!

Monday making

This week I finished off an UNFINISHED sampler.
There were only FOUR blocks handed down to me....
And I added five alternate blocks.
THRIFTY blocks they’re called.
Very appropriate for this little quilt.

Next up I will add a border.

There is something about these orphan blocks and quilts
That catch my imagination!

I also made a little 13” pillow.

Love the scrappy flag block.
A very traditional block called New York quilt block.

Both of these projects are on my youtube channel.

Monday making - scraps and tiny pieces

This week I began a quilt I’ve wanted to make for a long time.
A ONE DOLLAR quilt!

I used a cotton sheet from the thrift store as my foundation...
And added a WHOLE lot of soft scraps.

(I call it a one dollar quilt because the sheet was $1)

I am almost done with the quilt!
I have to now decide on a border.
Hmm......
Lots of happy thinking time.
🙂

I also made a very tiny quilt using
VERY tiny squares!

I made the tiny 1” finished squares using some 6” squares.
My little doll quilt is ready to be gifted!

Both of these projects are on my youtube channel HERE.

Monday making - a finish

This week I was able to finish this quilt top I began recently.
I LOVE the simple flowers
And.... I really enjoyed the hand work with appliqué and
English paper piecing that went into this one!

This week was our 3rd annual carrot harvest!

There are about 25 pounds of carrots on our picnic table here.
I made a big batch of carrot soup.
🙂

This year, rather than blanch and freeze the rest...
I hope to find good homes for this MOTLEY group of vegetables.

My video for this quilt finish is HERE.
I added what I call FLOATING squares blocks for
The top and bottom borders.
