Quilts and Babies - Monday Making

This post is FULL of quilts

and

Babies ON quilts.

I have a little collection of pictures

that I hope will GROW year by year

as the babies come

and the thank you pictures arrive!!!

Some of these I have posted before....

but IT's SO FUN to see some of them together!!

I've given 3 baby quilts away this week

and ONE lap quilt!!

Whew!

I depleted my baby quilt pile...

so I THINK this week I'll be sewing something

with PINK or BLUE fabric.

A small quilt.

Friday Finishes

Since this quilt began as a personal challenge....

I had NO idea I'd have it finished ALREADY!

:)

The binding is even ON!

Hooray for finishes!!

AND...

Using the STASH!

I also finished this tea towel apron.

I made it RIGHT after purchasing it from the thrift store this week 

Knowing that if I waited....

It would be forgotten.

Now it hangs along with the other aprons

in the cupboard....

READY for action!!

I love having a little

practical memory of a great city!!

Monday Making

These are a few of my favorite pincushions.

Well loved and USED often!!

I have been tempted to make some more

after seeing the daily dose of inspiration from

Amanda Jean!

But....

Everyone was home this weekend.

So....

 It's kind of hard

to FOCUS on sewing.

LOL!

Baby quilt

I finished a baby quilt this week.

You know I LOVE baby quilts!!

There are only six stars in this one

and they got SPECIAL treatment!!

Choosing a contrasting thread and doing some BIG stitches

was all it took to make this quilt EXTRA special!!

I was able to use only stash

with this quilt.

EVEN the backing was folded up and Ready!

Isn't it perfect???

Monday Making

I've been camping 

and sewing.

I packed some scraps and enjoyed making string blocks!

I also enjoyed some outside games!

Now that I'm home,

I hope to finish this simple baby quilt.

The baby is almost here!!!

Finishes

Being a grandma means I get to make some of these.

I DO love baby sweaters!!

There's the YARN.

There's also the SIZE.....ha ha!!

And the BEST part....

Is seeing the little one WEARING IT!

I also finished this half square triangle quilt top this week!

It was a FUN challenge working on my color VALUES!!!

Some of the fabric is outdated and

some is downright ugly.

(it was a personal challenge to see if I could make it work!)

It also contains quite a bit of purple.

Not one of my TOP colors.

But...

I do like the design.

The squares are 3 1/2".....

Not quite small enough to HIDE the ugly fabric.

Monday Making

I am currently sewing half square triangles.

NON-STOP! 

:)

There is a happy BUZZ in the sewing room

as the quilt grows and grows!!!

This quilt contains SO many ugly fabrics.

Look close and you'll spy them.

but...

It is SO FUN to see them MINGLE

in this quilt

and become something

BEAUTIFUL!!!

Each half square triangle block is 3 1/2".

I am using a NEW to ME tool

called - EASY ANGLE.

It seems to save time and FABRIC!

Yeah!

Monday Making

I am still making broken dishes blocks.

Since they measure  only 4 1/2",

it will take quite a few to make a bed sized quilt!

I'm cutting, chain piecing and trimming

at HOME

and....

AWAY.

:)

It's fun to SEW while CAMPING!!!

and..

Lugging scraps to the camp ground is NOT THAT bad.....

Haha!

I will also be working on a couple more "ships" this week.

There is a block swap in my guild

and I hope to WIN one of these months!!!
