Friday Finish

I am so happy I was able to finish another table mat today!!!
It's pretty simple.
Just four patches and squares.
I won't tell you how long it took me to figure out
how to SET those little four patches!!!
Haha!

Aaah! the decision making process.
Sometimes I agonize too much.
:)

The four patches are made with 1 1/2" squares
and the alternate squares are 2 1/2".
This table mat is about 20"x 20"

My goal is ten table mats for an upcoming retreat.
So that means...
ONLY ONE MORE TO GO!!!!!
Yeah!!!

Patchwork fun.

Kitchens need quilts.

Do you take it black?

I like to add Coconut cream to mine!!!

All Squared Up

Little tiny squares too precious to toss...
1 1/2" unfinished....
make lovely pincushions.

They also work for coasters.

2 1/2" squares that were GOING to be a simple table topper
are NOW in line to be a new seat cover in MY SEWING ROOM.
:)

Can you see that little square RIGHT above my watermark???
An OLD, old piece that says I LOVE YOU!

Oooh! I love little scraps of fabric!

LOTS of little squares!!!
FOUR different sizes here wait to be chosen.

Berry basket was made using THIS method...
but a bigger size.

Don't be fooled.
I have little DRAWERS for every size.
This only represents the CURRENT bits and pieces I've cut
out of leftovers as I go along.

A simple table topper to add to my GROWING
stack of  auction items.
This one needs some hand quilting...
Don't you think???

Friday finish

I'm not sure why.....
But I seem to get more sewing time in when I'm busy!
Strange.....but true
This little baby quilt using scraps was a great diversion from all the "have to do" things this week. ;)
Amazingly enough....
It's d.o.n.e.
Yeah!
Love the back!
Those little orphan blocks are the perfect addition to that blue/yellow stripe!

They look so cute all lined up there.

I love baby quilts.
I love scraps.
I love done.
:)

I shared how I made these simple blocks HERE

fun times with the scrap bin

It's been too long.
TOO long since I just sat down and
played with scraps!!!

It all started with an improvisational log cabin
that needed a little PEP!

Triangles do the trick....
don't you think?

More

When it comes to SCRAPS and QUILTS.....

The MORE the MERRIER!!!
The more scraps the BETTER.

And I DO BELIEVE
I'm the merriest...

Because I have MORE!!

Maybe not more than YOU....
but DEFINITELY more than I NEED!
Hah!

How many scraps does it take to make a quilt??
Simple answer.
it's
MORE.

Oh....I'm so happy I had all these scraps!
I am IN LOVE with this quilt.

When it's given away...
I'll have to make some visits.
 Some welfare visits.
some....
How is my quilt doing? visits.
I'll call them
"want to get coffee?" visits.
:)

If you comment and I don't reply...
it means your comment didn't come to my email like it normally does.
Anyone else having this issue with BLOGGER???
I'm curious to know WHAT's going on.

Scraps and love

I keep making little things.

Seems that's all I can focus on right now.
When I ran across these FALL scraps..
I couldn't resist
SEWING something up!

They DO make nice little gifts.
Thank you gifts.
I gave these away last night
to our dinner host
and she LOVED them!!

Makes all that stitching so SWEET!

I have enough scraps to make
MILLIONS of these little things.

Just imagine!
I could spread the love of quilting worldwide
if only I had the TIME!!!

The love of quilting is apparent at my home.
Every bed is COVERED.

Covered in
QUILTY LOVE.

Solo Swooning

I needed some THERAPY sewing after
the WHIRLWIND of the last few days!
busy. busy. busy!!!
It was a GOOD busy.

ONE of the things I did was meet up with a blog friend!
What fun!

Guess what?
Mary is JUST as fun and sweet
as she is on her blog.
We could have talked a LOT longer than we did!
We're just going to have to do it AGAIN!!!
;)

This is a nice BIG orphan block.
You'll all recognize it as a SWOON block.
I didn't want to make any more swoons...
sooo......

I made some twosies...

and some foursies....

and began WORKING around that lovely swoon!!!

Not sure how many times I'll go around!!!
I sure like what I'm seeing SO FAR!

The quilter who gave me this orphan block
 was working with a 3 1/2" grid.
So........I'm working with 3 1/2" squares
and a colorful 3 1/2" wide border!!!
See???
I don't even have to do any MATH!!!

Just the right kind of quilt for me!!!

I'm hoping to donate this one
to a great quilt gathering going on over at

It's always good to have a goal.
RIGHT???

Scrappy baskets

I'm always drawn to basket quilts.
Aren't you?
This is my very first block of a new quilt!

It all began while I was away.

I took TWO important things on my camping trip.
A BIG bag of scraps...
and a phone book.
;)

First...
I pulled out some colors I liked.

Then I began sewing them onto paper triangles.

Now that I'm home...
I can make some small half square triangles
with my small scrappy squares.........
and Make a WHOLE BUNCH of baskets!!!

I love beginnings!

The next size up

I was Wondering....

What if I began with 6" squares
instead of 5" charm squares like my last quilt??

Found out....
It's Fiddly.
I ended up trimming my scrappy 2 1/2" squares to 2 3/8".
Not sure I want to do that for a whole quilt.
????

I've never been of FAN of any 1/8th inches!!!

I have a hard enough time with 1/4 inches!!!

We'll see.
I DO want to use some 6" scrappy squares.
And...
I DO have a FEW.....(cough, cough..sputter, sputter...)

Here's a little more info on the above block.
Mostly 2 3/8" squares
plus 2 3/8"x4 1/4" creams

Make TWO of these.
Trim to 6".

Find two 6" scrappy squares.

Then...
Add 2 3/8"x 6" sashing
with a small 2 3/8" square right in the middle!!!

***Emily over at Em's Scrapbag interviewing me today
about SCRAPS!!!
My favorite kind of FABRIC!!!!
She's got a great lineup of guests.
ALL of them talking about SCRAPS!

Hop on over to Em's blog
and say HI!

Sunny Sewing

 Have sewing machine...
Will TRAVEL!
I'm camping this month
and hope to get LOTS of these blocks completed.

I THINK I have enough scraps!!!
LOL!

But....
I totally FORGOT my cutting mat and ruler.
UGH!!!!

Guess I'll have to trim later.
:/

I'm doing some OLD SCHOOL cutting
with template, pencil and scissors.

The kids are keeping me on the edge of my seat....
Wondering WHO's going to win
these RIVETING games of UNO!!!

;)
