Monday Making

It's Monday friends.
Time for a little linky fun!

I've had a GREAT weekend retreating with the church ladies.
My big girl came along which made it EXTRA special!

After I get some rest and get things in order here at home...
I'm going to begin cutting more tumblers.

I received some lovely pink fabric from a quilty friend, Fern.
Thank you Fern!
The pinks are going to feel RIGHT at home in my tumbler quilt.

Thought I was DONE with this quilt top...
but decided it will be more useful if it GROWS to be twin size!

A few more rows and it'll be the right length in NO TIME!!!

What are you working on this week???

Facts on Friday

Fact #1
It takes a REALLY long time to cut tumblers
using a plastic acrylic template.

Fact #2
Vintage fabric makes a good jumping OFF place
for any kind of scrap quilt.

This quilt began with vintage
and ended with whatever I could find
that kind of blended in!

Fact #3
Hand me downs + STASH = FREE quilt

Tumblers

This quilt must have been ALMOST done
when I put it away a few months ago!!!

It sure didn't take long to get it DONE!

It helped that I was stuck at home today
with a sick child.
A child that didn't need a nurse.
Just needed a day or so to let the cough
and sniffles calm down.
;)

I'm calling this one my
"FOR THE LOVE OF OLIVE" quilt.

The backing was purchased on impulse
a long time ago.

I love the way it goes with the green tumblers in there.

This is a comfort quilt.
Just the kind I LIKE!

It's full of old, new, ugly, cute,
green, blue, pink, purple.....
orange!, gold....

Next time
**cough, cough...**
I make a tumbler quilt...
I'm going to BEGIN with a GO cutter
and not a little plastic doohickey
that requires
rotary cutting.
rotary cutting.
cutting.
and MORE
cutting.

Light and Dark

I pulled out an unfinished quilt today.

This....
Is what I really SHOULD be doing.
I should get these quilt tops
sandwiched and quilted!!!
It was on my LIST to do this week!

But...
Today...I need the peace and calm
of LIGHT and DARK.

Pick up a light.
Pick up a dark.
Sew.
Repeat.

There is a serenity in quilting I love.

**I've added this post
work in progress wednesday.

Unscheduled activity

I never even THOUGHT about making a quilt like this
until...
Yesterday!!!
That's the day I recieved a "just because" package from Beebee.
;)
Very SWEET of her TOO, I might add!!!

But....
This unexpected burst of quilting is
ALL because of HER!!
If the floors aren't clean
and the bathroom is not scrubbed...
Don't blame me!
Blame her....Please.

She sent me some tumblers
cut with her Go cutter.
Do you have one of those??
I don't.

I have this little baby....
Handed down to me a couple of years ago.

I've never used it.
But guess what??
It's the SAME SIZE as Beebee's little tumblers.
:)

Now I'm puttering around
on a quilt that NEVER would have happened...
if it hadn't been for a
special delivery..
quilty gift...
sent by a blog friend.
Sweet!
