Baby Shower!

I attended a wonderful baby shower today!

There were vintage books and toys....

Some terrific fabric.....

That I'm going to be searching for soon....

There were new books that looked vintage...

but weren't.

And new books that were

DEFINITELY NOT vintage....

LOL!!!

THEN....

There were the HOMEMADE gifts.

LOTS OF THEM!!!

Aren't these booties ADORABLE?

A knitted afghan made by one of the Grandmas.

This one just BLEW me AWAY!

It was so soft and sweet!

Baby showers...

After talking to a friend today...

I realized the scraps we recieve from "someone else"

don't hold as much MEANING!

Therefore....

it's sometimes easier to sew them together...

WILLY NILLY!!!

I was way too busy to stitch even ONE seam!!!!....

No worries!!!

There's always time for fabric acquisition.

;)

I stopped off here between errands.

Buying fabric is KIND of like sewing...

Isn't it???

I WAS looking for some USEFUL fabric....

Thinking I'd get some GRAY for the backing of

my newest project.

I looked at all of these....

then decided to get the one on the left.

PLUS....

A BUNCH more I didn't need!

NO worries....

They were ALL on sale.

;)

EXCEPT the one I "needed"...

OF course!

Dump and Sew

Our Dump and Sew linky party is NEXT WEEK!!!

 

Today, I thought I'd share with you

some of the quilts I've made over the last couple of years

Using this tried and TRUE method.

;)

 

Dumping the scraps is EASY!!!

Sometimes they come from friends in a bag....

Sometimes You find them in your stash!!!

 

Quite frequently.....they are leftover strips.

 

The quilt above is just strips.

Happy strips!!!

 

And this one used leftovers from someone else's project!

I actually paid about 50 cents for this bag of scraps!

 

What can I say???

I liked the colors!!!

 

And....

IT went together SO FAST because I did

VERY LITTLE cutting!!!

 

You can see.... I even pieced the outside border!

 

I made this one a long time ago.

Crazy quilts are dump and sew quilts...

don't you think??

Just choose a center and begin sewing scraps on!

 

In this quilt I focused on pink...

but added some other colors to perk it up!!!

 

If you're going to dump...

it's O.K. to be a little choosy about the colors you sew together!

;)

Even my corduroy quilt used this method.

The pieces I had were bigger...

and I did a LITTLE bit of cutting.

I made some blocks with large strips

and then cut them diagonally

to get those triangle shapes.

This is one of my quilty treasures.

An old potholder.

This is definitely a dump and sew project.

I LOVE this one!

And here's MY attempt!

A baby quilt using this and that.

A blue quilt using square foundations.

Another BLUE quilt!

I love this one!!!

And last but not least.....

A baby quilt using any happy colors

that fell out of the bag!!!!

Too much

Perhaps you thought my ONLY Problem was

too much FABRIC!!!

 

You perhapsed WRONG!

(these cucumbers represent only

ONE morning's harvest!)

 

Never fear!!!!....

It' not ALL healthy eating over here!

 

I'm indulging in the VERY last piece of cake!!!

 

I added a cup of coffee and

FORGOT all of my troubles.

;)

Chocolate cake...My favorite.

 

1 box chocolate cake mix

1 (4 1/2 oz) box instant chocolate pudding

1 Cup sour cream

1/2 Cup oil

1/2 Cup warm water

4 eggs

 

combine above.

add

1 Cup chocolate chips

 

Bake in a bundt pan

at 350 degrees

for ONE hour.

(it usually is done before that in my oven)

Sewing "just because"

I have a couple of sewing deadlines over here...

but that's not what I needed to do yesterday!

 

I needed to sew something simple.

Very. simple.

Something that didn't require thought.

 

Sometimes.......you just need to SEW!!!

 

This one's not quite a "dump and sew"...

It's more of a "DIG and SEW!!!"

;)

 

I focused on yellow and gray.

 

Look!

I even found a tiny bit of this cute Peter Rabbit fabric!!!

 

Simple sewing is EVEN better

when there's SWEET fabric involved!!!!
