Monday making

After a LONG sit...
this quilt finally got the border it had been waiting for!!!

Poor thing.
It had to stay folded up in the quilt top pile while I
CONTEMPLATED.
I contemplated a VERY long time.

Eventually....
I decided....... I just had to GET 'ER DONE!!
Yesterday was the day.
It was a BEAUTIFUL Saturday to sew!
There was NO place I needed to be
and the house was relatively clean.

Quilting her will be another BIG project!

I'll probably wait a bit since I JUST finished quilting this one...
my scrappy tumbler quilt.

I am So excited to USE THIS QUILT!
but first...

I'm remembering that hand sewing binding
on a queen sized quilt is NOT FAST!!!
;)
and...
It's kind of BORING.
LOL!

What are YOU making this week???

A Scrappy Finish

It's always HAPPY DANCE TIME when a quilt is finished!
The dance is EXTRA jazzy when it's a QUEEN sized finish!!
;)

I know some of you use tumblers that are cut with a machine...
but friends...
these are all HAND cut with a template and rotary blade.
LOTS of netflix helped me along.
LOL!
If I could say this was HAND pieced as well......
well.... THAT would be something to brag about...
but I can't.
My little featherweight did ALL the work.

I am SO happy with this quilt top!
I wanted to emphasize the green and I think I managed that!
There is enough green to make this quilter happy.
:)

I DO love SCRAP quilts!!

Here's a quilt I saw today when visiting a friend.
Isn't it great???

Love the scrappy colorful happiness here.
I also love the little feet that get to spend time
rolling around on it!!

Babies and quilts are meant to be TOGETHER!!!
Don't you think???

And here's a recipe that's sure to make you forget the HEAT!
It's been SO hot here....
:/

The recipe calls it SALSA.
I call it SALAD!!!!

I served it with cheese quesadillas.
ENJOY!!!

Monday Making

I'm making another tumbler quilt this week!!

This is a new layout for me
and I'm excited to see this quilt GROW!
I'm hoping to get it QUEEN sized.
Think I have enough scraps???
;)

First...
I cut a bunch of tumblers using my 3 1/2" plastic template...
then....
Sew a bunch in sets of 4
and then cut a bunch MORE!!
In between I lay them out on the floor and ADMIRE.

I'm trying to alternate darks and lights....
but...
As you can see my darks and lights are not STRONG darks and lights.
They are muted a bit.
I'm finding it hard to decide if some of these scraps are DARK or LIGHT!!
It'll be interesting to see how its turns out when It's nice and big!

I'm having fun working in the dining room this week.
It's nice to change sewing locations once in a while!
although...
It means I have another MESS to clean up.
LOL!

Here's another MAKING picture.
Lots of cucumbers in the garden means there are going to be
 some PICKLES in the fridge!

What are you up to this week??

It's the little things

There were quite a few Things in the last few days
that I put in the
"Happy things"
category.
I often call them simple pleasures.

Life is FULL of them.
It's not the BIG things for me.
IT's the little things that give me GREAT pleasure.

For example....

Cutting tumblers and then...

finishing UP the last row of the quilt!!

Yeah!

Playing with NEW YARN at my daughter's dance class.
;)

Finding this PAPER QUILT at her school in the hallway.
LOVE it!

Teaching a class on HAND piecing
and having all the students complete a little coaster
using 2" squares.
;)

It was a great way to introduce sewing on a small scale.

Getting to spend TIME with my daughter who lives far away.

O.K.
Spending time with far away family is NOT a little thing...
It's BIG.
AND...
IT put a BIG smile on my FACE!!
