Before leaving to help my relative last week,
I prepared this quilt for a little hand work!
I machine quilted diagonal lines through each of the bigger squares.
Then I packed it up.
It was the perfect project to have along.
I chose a few different embroidery floss colors...
and just did a simple little stitch around each of the small squares.
I used three strands.
A little HAND STITCHING
goes a LONG way!!!
I THINK it adds SO MUCH!!!
LOVE the backing on this one!
It's all rolled up.
Ready to be given away!
Do you know as many
MOMMIES-to-be
as I DO?????
The embroidery does add so much to it. I just love the yellow in a baby quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love big-stitch quilting Beth. My new favorite!
ReplyDeleteThat little quilt is beautiful! :0)
ReplyDeleteThe embroidery, along with those cute owls, make this quilt really delightful. Some new mommy will treasure it.
ReplyDeleteVery cute. Love the stitching you added. This quilt looks vintage and modern at the same time.
ReplyDeleteHi Beth, which batting do you use for hand quilting? thanks Frugal Queen
ReplyDeleteWhen hand quilting with these big stitches, I use whatever batting is handy. If I'm doing a more traditional hand quilting stitch with small needle and small stitch I use wool or a thin polyester batting.
DeleteThanks Beth, when I've tried had quilting Hobbs batting, I ca hardly get a needle through it.
DeleteSuch an inviting quilt! Love the hand stitching, and you are right, it does add a lot to the quilt!
ReplyDeleteBeth - this is so cute! That hand-stitching just adds the right amount of love!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! It's good to know lots of expectant parents - the more quilting that needs to be done!
ReplyDeleteThe hand quilting was just the perfect finishing touch.
