Two babies were born in the last couple of weeks. They deserve a quilt and lot of cuddling! I made these easy quilts using flannel for the pieced fronts and cotton for the backing and binding, which I think makes the quilt soft and yet not as heavy as some others I have made with flannel on front and back.
I used 3 Inch strips of three different fabrics. I sewed the strips together then cut the strip sets into 8 inch blocks.
The first quilt is a classic chinese coins quilt pattern and the second is a split rail fence block pattern. As I made them I was reminded of why I make these little gifts... My Aunt made me a simple, but very special quilt for my first baby. She put two pieces of cute fabric together with batting and tied it with colorful yarn. That little quilt is still in my cupboard and makes me feel very special. :)
These quilts are adorable, I love the contrasting colors idea! Thanks for stopping by and linking! -Allison
