important stuff

Quilts are a very important part of LIFE!

Even camping trips need QUILTS!

Not the precious hand quilted treasures....

Not the perfectly appliqued masterpieces.....

just.....

The simple.

The lovely.

The comfortable.

I found this quilt at a thrift store a few months ago and

LOVED the simple stitches...

and the COLOR!!!

(maybe I'll add some black ties in there

as I sit around the campfire!!!)

Camping trips need.....

The scrappy....

and....

The happy.

I made this quilt last fall using

corduroy and flannel.

Tied up with yarn!!!

Camping would NOT BE COMPLETE

without...

Friends.

Beware.

Quilts ADD up.

Instead of sewing yesterday...

I gave an informal trunk show to relatives.

I was SHOCKED at how many quilts I had to share.

I was SHOCKED at how much I could TALK about each one!

I'm EMBARRAssed that I have this many quilts at MY house!!!!

I thought I had given MOST away!!

This stack does not include the quilts on

WALLS...

BEDS......and SOFAS!!!!

Have an idea for a simple something...

RUN out of TIME!!!????

The first set is done.

WHEW!!!.....

and the second set will be stitched...

IN THE CAR!!!

What they don't tell you

They don't tell you when you begin quilting about the HARD stuff.

One of the hardest things for me is cutting up the fabric.

Making that FIRST cut.......

This time it involved cutting an old bathing costume/suit.

And....

an old dress.

When people know you quilt...

They ask you do HARD things for them like cutting up OLD clothes!!

It's not hard TALKING about it!

No......

IT's hard DOING IT!!!

I sometimes even have trouble cutting precious NEW fabric.

;/

Help!!!

It was especially troubling after my daughter

tried on

that old bathing suit.

Bloomers, cap and all!!!!

I've tried to give myself PEP talks:

"It's o.k. Beth.

No one will ever wear this again."

But...

the pep talks didn't work.

I had to cut it up and FELT terrible afterwards.

:/

Can't wait until I'm all done with this project for my friend.

I know she'll LOVE it...

and that's what I'm trying to focus on!!!

It will be SOoooo nice when I don't have any more

BAD dreams

about being IN TROUBLE

for......

cutting Grandma's DRESS!!!!!

Calming Chaos

Sometimes quilts are pieced in an orderly fashion....

like here and here...

sometimes they're NOT!

Sometimes random pieces FALL together

adding energy and motion!!!

When this happens....

It's nice to give a little ORDER to the CHAOS.

I used some tape to give some ORDER.

I began with a LONG line right down the middle of the quilt.

I quilted about 2" out from there.....

measuring and taping as I went along.

PIECED HAPPINESS.

Another graduate quilt finished!

Woo Hoo!!!

This quilt was a perfect "scrap buster".

This high school graduate (my niece)

wanted some purple in her quilt.

She got some purple...

PLUS....

some friends of purple!!

 ;)

I added a purple binding

and a fun polka dot backing.

This quilt is heading off to college in the fall.

There is now a nice STACK of quilts Ready.....

 to head OFF to college with graduates.

They are quilted and binding is ON!!!

Only ONE more graduate quilt to go!!!

and...

It's for my son who has THREE quilts on his bed

made by "you know who".

I'm not super motivated to make another! ;/

But I will.

Mmm......I JUST Love these colors!!!

That lime green in there sparkles!

Little tiny squares of happiness!

I'm so happy my little 2 1/2" scraps

were able to GET together in THIS quilt!!!

They're going to make a little girl

HAPPY. HAPPY!

I know....

They made me happy

as I sewed them together!!!

Win. Win. situation!
