Scraps and love

I keep making little things.

Seems that's all I can focus on right now.
When I ran across these FALL scraps..
I couldn't resist
SEWING something up!

They DO make nice little gifts.
Thank you gifts.
I gave these away last night
to our dinner host
and she LOVED them!!

Makes all that stitching so SWEET!

I have enough scraps to make
MILLIONS of these little things.

Just imagine!
I could spread the love of quilting worldwide
if only I had the TIME!!!

The love of quilting is apparent at my home.
Every bed is COVERED.

Covered in
QUILTY LOVE.

College!

It was very hard to find time to sew this week.
I was BUSY getting my son ready for his FIRST year of school!

We dropped him off today.
A parental MOMENT...for sure!

We packed boxes.....
bought some necessary essentials....

And made SURE he had enough QUILTS for the bed!!
LOL!!!
He loves to LAYER them!
;)

FIVE. 5!!!!
You think he has enough????

trunk show

Friends.
Beware.

Quilts ADD up.

Instead of sewing yesterday...
I gave an informal trunk show to relatives.

I was SHOCKED at how many quilts I had to share.
I was SHOCKED at how much I could TALK about each one!

I'm EMBARRAssed that I have this many quilts at MY house!!!!
I thought I had given MOST away!!

This stack does not include the quilts on
WALLS...
BEDS......and SOFAS!!!!

Whew!!!!

I'm done quilting two quilts!
In between quilting I did some
sleeping
and some
eating.
But that's about it.
;)

The double wedding shower is Saturday and I
REALLY wanted to see the girls open their quilt-gifts!!!
Guess you could say I was motivated!

The Girls are sisters getting married only a month apart.
The double shower should be fun!!!

It's interesting to see the polar opposite style of quilt designs chosen, huh?
I let them choose a small quilt top from my pile
and then I made them queen sized.

Yes.
Queen sized quilts are BIG.
Yes.
Queen sized quilts are HEAVY.
Yes.
Queen sized quilts take a while to make
EVEN
when you've got a head start!!!!

Like I said.....
Whew!!!!

In between quilting I had to have a FUN little break.

Someone gave the pieces for the this little doll dress away!
The fabric and the rusty pin holding it all together
gave me SOME indication how OLD this
UFO
probably is!!!!

This little dress is probably
SO HAPPY
to be out of the UFO pile!!!
And a little girl I know is going to have some
fun dressing her doll in
VINTAGE style!!!!

The quilts are ready to go.

And I'm ready to REST.
;)

I was frugal and used my stash for the backings!

I think I like the pieced backs better anyway!!!

You can't tell from looking...
but I tried my hand at feathered quilting.

The feathers seem to be invisible...
even when I look really hard!!!

Oh well.....
Guess it's good to practice those
FANCY stitches
EVEN When....
 they can't be seen!!!!

musical chairs

Remember the game called Musical chairs??
That's what I've been playing over here...
except it's called
MUSICAL QUILTS!

I work on one a little.....
and then work on another one a little....
and on and on it goes.....

This quilt really IS musical!!!
It began with that ONE little piece of fabric in the middle.
Can you see all the instruments???
It's going to be a GREAT
RAFFLE quilt
for a middle school band teacher I'm friends with.

I was even able to add some little tiny stars.
I'm sort of attached to little stars these days!
:)

This one is pieced.....
Ready to be quilted!!!

Then there are your blocks for Japan.
I sew a little on these...
then.....

I quilt some donation quilts for a while...
Next up:
Binding on these guys.

Musical quilts.
I'm humming along as I work!!

remember this apron?

This apron started it all.
I wrote about this apron a while back.
THEN, a friend admired it.
so-o-o...
I made another and gave this away.
This weekend, my daughter mentioned she needed a gift for
a college friend who loves to cook.
I said, how about an apron?
I can whip one up today?

She chose the fabric and I did the work!
Love that pocket!

Here is the apron I made for myself when I gave that
first one away.
(Thanks to another daughter who modeled them for me.)

Then, my husband asked if I had any finished baby quilts for two co-workers.
He knows that I'm sewing ALL the time.
Yes! I did have two baby quilt tops
ready to be quilted.
This fabric is what I call hand-me-down fabric.
When people know you like to sew, they like to
give you fabric!
I rarely say NO!
These little pink and white squares came to me
ALREADY CUT!
Can't beat that!

Love the backing on this one.

Trying out a closeup of my so-so quilting. :)

some more quilting!

I also had this quilt top made from the scraps from my last
baby quilts.
I used flannel for the pieced front
and
Cotton for the back.
Can you see the nursery rhyme fabric on the back?
Too cute!

long beach quilt show.......yeah!

I was able to go to the Long Beach quilt show today. Here is just a glimpse of three beautiful quilts I saw there.

I was also able to SHOP! this bag here is full of treasure.
I will be dreaming about the perfect quilt or quilts to use with this fabric. Believe it or not this shop was the only one I shopped at today...but I thought the selection was great and the price was RIGHT.

While I was looking at this fabric I heard someone talking about blogs...I interupted the conversation with these Strangers and found out that they were some of my blogging heros! Julie, from jaybirdquilts and Alissa from handmadebyalissa greeted me and told me it was just fine to interupt other bloggers when they're talking. :) Hope I made a good impression and they will help me with all my blogging issues.

I love these fabrics...can't wait to get going making that PERFECT quilt!
