Free pieced Friday

A very little quilt.
Just 12"x20"

and another.

Very similar...
but they're not QUITE the same.

See?
They're even a bit different in size.

I used the leftover fabrics from this quilt.

I think they're quite striking.
Amazing what a limited palette
will get you!!!!

I was even able to use shirt sections on the backs.

Now...I need to get these labeled
and OFF to the family members
that need some comfort!!!

Sad quilt

This quilt was a sad one to make.
It's going to my young nephew's girlfriend.
He lost his life suddenly last month
and she's grieving.

Quilting gets you closer than you want
to sadness sometimes.
But...
you know what??
It was also GOOD
having something I could DO!!!

Frequently..
when sad things happen....
You want to DO something...
And....
there's NOT much that will really help.

IT was very hard getting this CLOSE
to the loss of my nephew by making this quilt.

But I'm glad I had the opportunity
to GIVE
a small bit of comfort....
Because I know how
to MAKE a quilt!!!

Quilting with Tears

I just finished making these two quilts.
Quilts for my cousin's children.
She passed away right before Mother's day this year.

It was a long illness and her family was put through the ringer!!!

Her t-shirts and nightgowns went into these with some of my tears.
Tears for a life cut short.
Tears for her two children.
Tears for her husband.

They're simple quilts.
Hopefully they'll give some comfort.
I'm thankful that she had trust in God.
Only HE can really comfort us.
I told her I'd see her "tomorrow" in heaven.
Time flies....so I know it'll be soon!
It's such a blessing to have HOPE!

Quilts were made by cutting 4" strips of clothing
and sewing them together in rows.
I used basting spray on fleece....NO batting.
I quilted wavy lines along the seams.....
Then added a binding.
IT WORKED!
;)
