My lone pine tree is now all finished.

 

The background is done.

The little pieces of fabric are ON!

The quilting lines are all IN!

Hey!

The binding is even ALL the way ON.

Handstitched and all!

(anyone else ever take photos BEFORE that's done?)

LOL!

This pine tree can now stand proudly

in it's mountain cabin home!!

 

 

 

Free pieced Friday

A very little quilt.

Just 12"x20"

and another.

 

Very similar...

but they're not QUITE the same.

See?

They're even a bit different in size.

 

I used the leftover fabrics from this quilt.

 

I think they're quite striking.

Amazing what a limited palette

will get you!!!!

 

I was even able to use shirt sections on the backs.

 

Now...I need to get these labeled

and OFF to the family members

that need some comfort!!!

I'm crazy.

I was cooking and serving today.

No quilting.

:(

This is a quilt I made a year ago

(has it really been that long?)

for no reason.

Almost no reason.

That's why I'm crazy.

There was a wedding shower at my house

and these were the bride's colors.

Silly.

I know.

It hangs at a friend's house now.

Glad it found a good home.

A few years ago I fell in love with quilting.

I started in making quilts for everyone on

every occassion!!

Well, you can guess that I run into these

old friends on occassion.

I ran into one today!

This little 2'x3' wall hanging lives in my

mother-in-law's bedroom. So I seldom see it!

When I saw it today...

I thought...

"Well, hello friend. We spent a lot of time together, didn't we?"

I hand appliqued it and hand quilted it.

So it wasn't a rush job.

There are the quilts that live with us

that we see every day.

And there are those quilts that are JUST as special

that we bump into only now and then.

BUT they're all good friends.

It's not perfect, but this is how I've been dealing with a

VERY.

UGLY.

AIR CONDITIONER.

This was my Fall cover up!

Here it is...

Dressed for Christmas!

I dream of having a cover up for all the seasons!

Or maybe, I'll be rich and famous before that

AND

Get rid of the UGLY THING!

I was able to hang this today also.

It's one of my first quilts.

When I made this....I used ONLY some scraps that I had.

SOoooo...

It's not too great.

Sometimes, when you make a quilt, you realize later

how you would have done it different...

AND

that's the case with this one.

Oh well.

I was a busy girl today.

Along with hanging some seasonal quilts.

(not too difficult, by the way)

I finished TWO quilt tops.

YEAH!

Both of these tops need some quilting...don't they?

Neither of them have deadlines...

sooo....I will wait.

It takes me about a day of HARD labor to quilt these.

I think I'll rest for a bit.

Maybe pull them out after the holidays.

Or in a couple of months...??

My family's favorite cookie...all year long.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 C. Butter, softened

3/4 C. brown sugar

3/4 C. sugar

1 egg

1 tsp. vanilla

2 C. flour

1 C. quick or old fashioned oats

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. baking soda

1 C. canned pumpkin

1 1/2 C. chocolate chips

Mix it all up!

drop by spoonful on greased cookie sheet (I like baking stones!)

Bake 350 degrees for 12 - 13 minutes.

YUM!
Now I need some pumpkins in my house!

I played with my scraps yesterday and pieced a chair.
Lonely looking, huh?

count to 100!

My solution to time out and the 100's chart - make a quilt! My little girl gets an opportunity every so often to "go to your room and count to 20". As she grows the number will grow and it's already there on the wall! My older kids also had to "go count to 100", but their chart was a long piece of paper tacked to the wall close to the ceiling. As they got older, the number line morphed into "go do your 3 times tables" (3x1=3, 3x2=6, etc.). I get a little break to calm my nerves and I foolishly (?) think they might be using their BRAINS.

I used iron-on fabric adhesive, cut little squares, ironed them on and quilted over everything! I then used a fabric pen and wrote the numbers under each little block.
