Sad quilt

This quilt was a sad one to make.
It's going to my young nephew's girlfriend.
He lost his life suddenly last month
and she's grieving.
Quilting gets you closer than you want
to sadness sometimes.
you know what??
It was also GOOD
having something I could DO!!!

when sad things happen....
You want to DO something...
there's NOT much that will really help.

IT was very hard getting this CLOSE
to the loss of my nephew by making this quilt.

But I'm glad I had the opportunity
a small bit of comfort....
Because I know how
to MAKE a quilt!!!

  1. Oh, I don't think I could do this - you are blessed!

  2. Those are always the toughest to make, but it is almost like a constant prayer for them when you are in the process. She will treaure it forever and will, hopefully, someday be able to remember the good times with fewer tears.

  3. So sorry for your loss - here's hoping your quilt brings healing and peace. So sad.

  4. Sorry for your loss, Beth. Your quilt is a true labor of love.

  5. Sorry for your loss. The quilt will bring some comfort and loving hugs.

  6. OH sorry to hear of the loss your family has suffered. I'm sure your quilt will bring comfort, for the memories associated and for all your efforts. Hugs

  7. I'm sorry for your loss of a young nephew. the quilt will be treasured, you are being used to become a blessing!

  8. I am so sorry for your loss. The quilt will give comfort. When my uncle died his siter in law ( a quiltet) got all of his shirts..he always wore plaid....and she made a quilt for each of his daughters.
I am always amazed at how kind and caring quilters are....

  9. So sad, loss is always horrid. It is truly a lovely thing you have done.

  10. So sad for your loss, but so happy that you found a way to both comfort and grieve at te same tie. The quilt looks great. {hugs}

  11. Bless all your hearts. You are in mine.

  12. I'm so sorry for the loss of your nephew Beth. I'm making a memory quilt for the widow of a young man now. It's hard cutting up his clothes but I know these girls will gain comfort from the quilts. Our part might help.

  13. My deepest sympathy on such a sad loss. You are so right that it is good to be able to do something and a quilt is such a comfort at a sad time like this.

  14. It must have been very painful planning and putting the quilt together. It is as you say a small consolation but will be a solace to the girlfriend.
My heart goes out to all.

  15. sorry to hear about your nephew Beth.
Your quilt will give his girlfriend comfort and warmth.
How lovely of you to make it for her!

  16. sorry for your loss. it is good to help others and it also helps us to get through. his girlfriend will always remember this act of will comfort her.

  17. So sorry for your loss. We can never understand such things but memories can console us. This quilt will be such a warm, loving reminder for her in the days and months to come. Wishing you all peace....

  18. I am so sorry for you and your family, Beth. Losing those so young and so suddenly is very hard to come to terms with. Hugs of love and light.

  19. This quilt will surely be cherished and it will bring comfort. That makes it beautiful.

  20. Beth, I'm sending lots of Love and Ladybug Hugs your way! I've done a few memory quilts and I know exactly what you're talking about. I know it will be loved and cherished and though it was difficult to make, it is a beautiful thing you have done.
