Monday Making

I'm not a Crewel Embroidery expert.

I don't know how to get the KINKS out of the linen background after it's done.
;/
I probably didn't use the right kind of yarn.
and...
I didn't follow the color diagram
OR
 the stitching diagram.

I DID my OWN thing...
and that's what was SO MUCH FUN!!!

With a $1 price tag...
I figure it was a GREAT entertainment VALUE!!
It gave me hours of happy work.

Now...
to get a NICE backing and finish this PILLOW!!

I'll be wondering as I sew...
"Should I KEEP it???
Or give it away????"

That's ALWAYS the question.

What are YOU up to this week???

Thank you for joining me here each week
as we share about MAKING stuff!!!

You're a BUSY bunch
and I LOVE seeing it ALL!!

Friday Finish

I just finished this baby Afghan and...
I was HAPPY to be done.
but....
kind of sad to be done with these colors.

Thankfully I have a vintage crewel embroidery kit
and can continue my infatuation with
PINK!!!

The only thing purchased in the making of these projects...
was the vintage crewel kit ($1).
I didn't like the colors in the kit...
But...
I liked the FLOWERS!

I'm having so much fun creating a NEW color palette for this pillow!

and FREE giveaways at
the QUILTMAKER blog here!!!

I will also be giving a copy of the magazine away...

;)

This is the applique block I designed
for Quiltmaker.

I used a MIX of color
to create this FUN block.

Sometimes I hand applique..but..
This time it was
Wonder under and ZigZag!!!
Super EASY!

Since I LOVE scrappy...
I made some more blocks using scraps that seemed to play together
pretty well.
;)

Alternating the background also gives this pattern
some ZING!!
Don't you think??

Here it is MULTIPLIED!!

Isn't She pretty???

Monday Making

Sometimes a project is worth repeating!
;)
After making this table mat a month or so ago....

I received the unfinished QUILT
that is related to the original leftover blocks that had been given to me!

Since the quilt is big enough without adding anymore blocks...
I'm going to REPEAT!!

I'll add some FRESH muslin
and make another table mat for a relative of the MAKER of this quilt!!

Let me tell you though friends........
It's NOT easy RIPPING those HAND SEWN seams OUT!!!

It's necessary...
but OH so painful!!

The hand stitches are SO well done.
I can feel the original quilter's loving touch in every stitch.
and I'm RIPPING them OUT!
OUCH.

I hope she'd understand that the old muslin
needs a Switcheroo!!!!
;)

Friday finishes

I finished this small sweater/vest recently for my 12 year old.

She's happy to wear it...
AND...
I'm happy it FITS!!!
UNLIKE sewing...
You NEVER really know until it's ALL done and
OFF the needles!!

The pattern is here.
Many of the Ravelers added cast on stitches to make it fit an adult.
;)
I hope to try that soon.
SO many PROJECTS I want to make......
;/

While I was knitting...
the nurse who has been working with me was crocheting THIS!!!
She dug through my stash of yarn
and came up with this wonderful blanket!

It was made with a basic crochet stitch and then
the BRIGHT colors were chain stitched FIRST and then woven through.

She finished it off with a bright blue border to hide the woven ends.

I am SO tempted to copy this project!!!

Happy Friday!
Hope the weekend brings you TIME to MAKE!

Monday Making with little pieces

Little tiny half square triangles are so much fun!

One minute I was piecing these leftovers together....
Next thing I knew....

I had a FINISHED project!

One little pincushion with a small ribbon attached for
GRABBING!!

Anyone else have trouble picking up the pincushion
WITHOUT injury
due to PINS haphazardly sticking out in ALL directions???

That little grabbing ribbon is going to SAVE me!!
;)

Monday Making

What are you making this week??

I'm getting to the very end of a small vest for my 12 year old.
The pattern was written for a one skein shrug...
but I found lots of knitters had lengthened it
and made it more of a vest.

The pattern is HERE.
A whopping 1439 people have made it!
;)

I'd LOVE to be quilting...!!!
but life has me away from home more frequently these days.

Knitting is so much easier to manage.

Link up and share any creative pursuit.
