old and cute

Here's something I pull out every Christmas.

It's old and a little faded now.

But it's so pretty!

This is something I could NEVER make!

And these little coasters live in my living room

ALL year long!

I think they're so pretty.

And again, I could NEVER make these either!

I've been looking forward to today ALL week!

Today's the day all the ladies from class brought their 9 patch blocks for Jean!

I couldn't wait to see them

Well...I did wait...of course, I HAD too!

Waiting is hard for me sometimes. :)

Don't know if you remember, but we decided to make a

disappearing nine patch.

Everyone made a 9 patch using 5" squares.

Then we need to cut them up a bit.

Well, there's a little problem with that cute girl in the picture above.

If I make this into a D9P (disappearing 9 Patch)

That cute little girl with disappear all right!!

And this signature will disappear also!

We laid out the 9 patches.
I think they look nice just the way they are...don't you?

Now some of the ladies are overachievers and cut their
9 patches already!!





We will just have to use them around the outside of the
quilt for a border!!

I can't wait to show you what it looks like all together.
But, I do have to wait!!!

So many things are calling my name right now!

I hear the Christmas cards calling...
the packages that need to be sent are calling.....
and, oh yeah! The house says it needs to be cleaned too.....

I told the sewing machine it would just have to wait!

no quilts today.

Here's my Apron collection.

Isn't that one on the left cute?

NO...I didn't make that one.

That was one of those impulse buys!

I bought it thinking I would give it to my husband to give to me for Christmas.

Anyone else do that?

BUT....

I wanted to wear it NOW.

So I hung it on a hook and realized:

I now have an apron collection!

Maybe one of these days we could have an apron parade!

Wouldn't that be fun?

Then there's my little group of cans.

These cute little things hide reality.

SEWING.

As you can see, they're not doin' too good right now.

You can see baggies and rulers poking their heads out.

But, when I need to get rid of the evidence,

I clean it up a bit.

REMEMBER, I'm sewing in the dining room or

Wherever I can.

I'm kinda' all over the house sometimes. :)

And then this last week,

Sewing snuck into a practical backpack!

This red backpack was a given to my little girl.

VERY PLAIN.

I HAD to do SOMETHING!

yo-yo's were added that I found already made

in one of those pretty cans pictured above!!

YEAH!

Now we'll go to school with some flowers!

(Can you see the dog back there wishing he could go too?)

Kaffe color

In this little quilt I think the fabric does

ALL the work!

Most of it is from the designer Kaffe.

I used a template to cut the shapes.

Sewed them up and made one block...

over and over again.

If I had purchased more of that lovely fabric,

Maybe I'd have made a larger quilt.

Maybe not....those little blocks were a little tricky.

This one hangs on the wall where I enjoy it

all year long.

I have now decided the walls have enough QUILTS.

My family agrees.:)

not a cookie recipe.

While most of you are thinking about cookies

or maybe even MAKING cookies...

I'm making these.

Are you tired of pumpkin recipes yet??

PUMPKIN MUFFINS.

1 stick butter...softened

3/4 C brown sugar

1/4 C. molasses

1 egg

1 C. canned pumpkin

1 3/4 C. Flour

1 t. baking soda

1/4 t. salt

1/4 C. chopped nuts

Mix it all together.

bake in little muffin tins 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

YUM!

You may have to double this...

I made them yesterday and we're out already!

Here's my first block.

I have another sick friend from my quilting class.

Since there are quite a few of us in the class...

it's a "no brainer".

Every one can make a square and then

put them together for a quilt!!

Every one said they would make a nine patch with 5" squares.

Then they will cut them like this!

Yes....A disappearing nine patch.

The ladies were asked to use florals.
I think Jean will love looking at all the different fabrics
as she fights her illness.

I look forward to seeing what it will look like when
we have ALL the squares together!!

We should have them all by next week...

So you won't have to wait tooo long for me to show you either!

It's not perfect, but this is how I've been dealing with a

VERY.

UGLY.

AIR CONDITIONER.

This was my Fall cover up!

Here it is...

Dressed for Christmas!

I dream of having a cover up for all the seasons!

Or maybe, I'll be rich and famous before that

AND

Get rid of the UGLY THING!

I was able to hang this today also.

It's one of my first quilts.

When I made this....I used ONLY some scraps that I had.

SOoooo...

It's not too great.

Sometimes, when you make a quilt, you realize later

how you would have done it different...

AND

that's the case with this one.

Oh well.

I was a busy girl today.

Along with hanging some seasonal quilts.

(not too difficult, by the way)

I finished TWO quilt tops.

YEAH!

Both of these tops need some quilting...don't they?

Neither of them have deadlines...

sooo....I will wait.

It takes me about a day of HARD labor to quilt these.

I think I'll rest for a bit.

Maybe pull them out after the holidays.

Or in a couple of months...??

It all started with these blocks.

4 patches.

I told you I love that old gray fabric.

What can I do with these??

I've got some scraps. Don't you??
I can make some start points.
You can see I'm not too exacting on those triangle star points.
They're all a little different.
Just lay that scrap on the white rectangle and sew it down!
I'll just trim the excess.



Here are some lurvely stars!
I made 20 this weekend!!

I also had some little half triangles that I trimmed off of

those stars.

These are all squared up to 2 1/2".

They will make a nice border for this quilt!!
