Shopping.

I'm sure you NEVER come home from the store with
the UN intended....
The UN necessary...
The UN-NEEDED....

I couldn't leave these apples on the shelf!!
It is fall....right???
And.....
These apples won't go BAD!!!!

I've got to add...
the price was right too!!!

But the tag says....KITCHEN TOWEL.
Hmmm.....
This is NOT my kind of kitchen towel.

This is where kitchen towels live at MY HOUSE!!!

Pretty kitchen towels...are just....
well.....
too pretty to hang here!!!!

Soooo....
I did what I've done before.

I cut some triangles OFF!

Finished those two edges...

Made ties and a neck band.

Hey!
I didn't even iron this first.

It came together SUPER fast.

Then....

I tried to take some self portraits to show it off
to my friends in blogland!!!

But....
My self portrait skills are WANTING!!!
;)

Aaaaah...
that's better.

Ain't she sweet???

Fun Fabric!

The hardest part of a project is sometimes
CHOOSING the fabric.
I was overwhelmed with the choices
when I arrived at the fabric shop!!!!
I FINALLY settled on this one!

My friend Ellen had a birthday...
and since we prepare a meal for senior citizens twice a month...
an APRON seemed to be the perfect gift!!!!

You probably know......
I have PLENTY of fabric in my stash.
But.....
Nothing seemed QUITE right and....
I wanted to make this one SPECIAL!

I found a free pattern here.
and....

I have lots of bias tape.
Good thing!!!!
This pattern requires 7 yards of it!!!!!
Sheesh!
That's a lot of bias tape!

I love this apron.

Maybe I'll make one for me too!!!!
What????!!!!!
You think I have enough already????
:/

another apron????

It's SURE a good thing I don't get OUT much!
If I went department shopping more often...
I'm afraid I'd have LOTS of
IMPULSE buys
cluttering my cupboards!
;)

Here's the proof.
I couldn't pass this tea towel up!

Isn't it great????
AND....
The price was right.

I splurged...
bought it....
and...
Made an apron.
If you're interested...
You can see how I made one like it last year here.

After all...
since my job involves
cooking and cleaning....
I should be able to sew a
UNIFORM once in a while!!!!
;)

My older girls wondered if I have an apron
for EVERY DAY of the month.
Not YET!!!
LOL!!!

Here I am.....
FREEZING!!!
My daughter was kind enough to snap a picture
before she rushed off to work.
Not the best picture....
This is reality.
Cold mornings.
Coffee in hand.
Apron on.

A NEW apron! Woo Hoo!!!
I made this last night.
Mmmmm...good.

I doubled the recipe and have only this left.
Guess what I'm having for lunch???

One Dozen

One apron x 12 =

One dozen.
:/
It's been a sweatshop over here!

I was asked to make these for
my son's high school art class.

Lessons learned:

Webbing is a great time saver.

Large pieces of
Hand-me-down fabric just MIGHT come in handy...
even when it's not "quilting" fabric!
:)

You NEVER know when you're going to make
a dozen aprons!!!

I'm done.
I can now MOVE on to more creative pursuits.

I don't think you'll be seeing
any more aprons
in this corner of blogland for a little while.
LOL
;)

kitchen stuff

I wear aprons.
A lot!

Here's a new one!

I used this sweet cherry fabric that someone gave away!!!
I know!
I wondered WHY they would do that too!

It wasn't quite wide enough for an apron....

But I FIXED THAT!
;)

Then I made a favorite
Easy.
Chicken.
Dinner.

Sour cream on the boneless chicken pieces.

Bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese
on the chicken pieces.

Put it all in a greased casserole dish.
Bake. 350 degress.
40 minutes??
Sorry if my directions are BIT sketchy!
That's the way I cook.
:/

Serve with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies.
Mmmmmm.....Good.....

repurposed gift.

I received a little gift for Christmas.
A kitchen towel.
Cute, huh?
Here's the recipe that came attached.

I knew that if I used this towel
in my kitchen...
as intended...
it would not be long for this world. ;)

Soooo....
I trimmed it a bit.
Added a strip of fabric on the top....
And a strip of fabric on the bottom.
Two ties on the sides...
VIOLA!!!

I wear aprons quite often in my line of work:
(Chief cook and bottle washer).
This has become the perfect towel for me!!!

coming home.

I thought when my children moved out,
they might call or stop by wanting a meal
or something like that.
Maybe they would miss my
Yummy.
Home.
Cooking.
Today I got a call.
"Can I bring my friend over to go
shopping
In your stash??"

Yes.
Hooray!!
Something brought my daughter home
for a VISIT!!!
Who would have EVER guessed it would be
MY STASH!!!
They even stayed to sew!!!
Double and triple....
Hip Hip Hooray!!!!
I wasn't going to sew today either!!
Oh boy!
Was I distracted!!!
I was supposed to be cleaning the house for
guests coming tomorrow for lunch.
AND
buying groceries for guests coming for lunch.
AND
making some food for guests coming for lunch.
BUT...
I just couldn't tear myself away from
these girls!!!
And their sewing adventures
in my new sewing room!!!
Guests coming for lunch will just have to
eat the ice cream sandwiches in the freezer
that I already bought!
That's nutritious...
Isn't it???
Well.
We had some success in my new sewing room
AND
we had some failure.
:/
She did a great job on the binding!!!
But the print is upside down!
Oh well....
She wasn't too discouraged
and I know.....
She'll get to make another one.....
and for that....I think
She'll have to come back and sew.
