Time for a quilt show!

When I finished this quilt...

I did a happy dance!!

A VERY LOUD....

A VERY BIG....

happy DANCE!!!!

 

All those little 2" squares were

FINALLY a QUILT!!!!

I'm sharing this one for

Amy's blogger's quilt festival!

 

It proves that LOTS and LOTS of little tiny pieces of fabric

will EVENTUALLY become something....

That can be USED!!!

(some were sent to me by blogland friends!)

Birthday quilt

Not EVERYONE gets a quilt for their birthday at my house...

but tomorrow  a little girlie DOES! ;)

This quilt contains so much LOVE.

I Spy squares from blogland friends....

Strips of scraps from other quilting friends....

And lots of MOMMY love!

I had a hard time choosing a green for the binding...

so I just PICKED them ALL!!!

I also tried out some fancy quilting stitches.

I don't STRESS about the quilting when it's for my little one!

Since my stash is LOW on big pieces I have been

Piecing my quilt backs.

So gratifying to USE up what I HAVE! :)

Here is my quilt's new home.

READY to be cuddled.

Ready to comfort.

Ready to be SPIED!

quilt festival time!

I'm entering this quilt into Amy's quilt festival.

A VERY. Scrappy. Quilt.

For a deserving Graduate!

This quilt incorporates lots of blue strips.

I had quite an overload of BLUE!

And I'm afraid this quilt did not

put a dent in the scrap pile!

This quilt represents my beginnings as a quilter.

I've been heading up the making of quilts

for high school seniors at my little church

for about 15 years.

When we began....

Our quilts were VERY simple.

Just 6" squares sewn together.

The squares for this quilt were made here

on a Saturday morning by anyone who wanted to help.

Then.....

I incorporated the blocks into a quilt!!!

The back is kind of funky and fun.

I absolutely LOVE giving these away each year!

Some years we have 2 or 3 graduates.

Last year I think we had SEVEN!

This quilt is ready now for graduation!....

And a college dorm!.....

And a summertime picnic!....

And........??

It's quilt festival time!

Time to figure out.....what quilt should I share???

Here's one of my favorites from this year.

A quilt that came together with some orphan blocks (the trees)

and an idea.

My idea was to make some houses....

a school house...flag...

but best of all....

a BUS!!!

That bus was so fun and challenging to create.

The bus was added because this quilt is for

a special teacher.

A special Education teacher.

Busses are a big part of special education at my daughter's school.

The busses all line up every morning and every afternoon....

The children walk and wheel along together to the bus area.

It's kind of a social event.

I really enjoyed making this one.


The best part, though,...
was giving it away!!!

I thought the teacher would take it home....
hang in on a sofa....
hang it on a wall....
fold it and look at it once in a while....
who knows?

This special teacher actually hung it in her classroom...
Wow!!!
That put a SMILE on MY face. :)

quilt festival time!

Before blogging there was quilting.

Before blogging there were life changing events.

This is my reminder of that.

I made this a couple of years ago after

we adopted a very sweet little 3 year old girl.

She came along with some physical problems

and we didn't know at the time

how much progress she would make.

You can see I used some scraps.

Yeah!!!

I love using those up!!

I bought a little tiny piece of fabric

with the alphabet letters.

Then....I just made some

wonky log cabin blocks beginning with that

little strip of black.

This was also one of my first

free motion quilted quilts!!

My little girl has surprised us all!!

And we're so happy we have this
little happy, happy girl at OUR house!

I'm adding this to the quilt festival.

There will be a LOT of quilts to see this week!!
