Scrappy top is off the floor

This is my VERY favorite kind of quilt!

The messy kind of quilt.
The FREE kind of quilt.

The kind that involves DUMPING scraps out
and DIGGING.

The kind where you use STRINGS that are ANY size
and you GET what you GET!!!

The kind that incorporates all KINDS of scraps...
even the clothing kind!

The kind of quilt that takes me on an
ADVENTURE!!
***************

This quilt lived on my design floor for a couple of weeks.
It was hard to get around it.
The Scraps were PILED next to it.....
and NOW it's pretty much DONE!

Yeah!

I still need a trim along the edges
and MAYBE add a border to make it twin size???

We'll see.

OOOh!
Then I need to QUILT IT!

Just for fun

Improvisational Quilt:
many scraps.
crazy colors.
lots of LINES.

After making a VERY large log cabin block...
I cut it into four pieces...
and
added some extra strips.
(should have taken a BEFORE photo
BEFORE cutting the large block up.)
;)

Happy quilting!

Log Cabin Holiday Style!

I was sent an ebook to review this week.
It inspired me to
pull out my Christmas fabric
for the FIRST time this year!!!

I can't believe I waited this long
to get the Christmas fabric out!!!
Maybe it's because the box of Christmas fabric
lives in my ATTIC!!!
Not the easiest Go to place, huh?

The little book is ALL about LOG CABIN quilts.
It includes some fun OLD quilts
that I like looking at
even MORE than the new ones!!!

Directions are very easy to follow
and
Pictures are well done.
I think it's a great BASIC book
that you can refer to again and again.

This FREE little Ebook is available
Let me know what YOU think.

My pillow above uses 1 1/2" strips
in a Half log cabin style.
It took FOUR half log cabins to make the center
and the border is 3" wide all around.
I had fun quilting loop-de-loops
in all the white areas!

Another beginning

Bullseye.....

Stripes sure give this simple block some movement!!!
Think I'll be looking around here for some more
 STRIPES!!!

Wednesday.

Almost every Wednesday morning I go to a quilt class.
Today there was so much inspiration...
I need want to show you LOTS of pictures!!!

Don't you love the way the courthouse steps above
moves it's color through the color wheel???

And this log cabin with the black!
Love it!
The teacher has been focusing on the log cabin block...
so you can see that's the basis for many of these quilts today.

Most of these quilts are IN PROGRESS.
See those little appliqued pictures on there???

These houses are going to be on top of that green log cabin.
I love that tree!

And here's a great beginning to a quilt
going to a wounded soldier.

Lots of pretty triangles!!!

Here's one of my favorite magazines!

And here's the beginning of that quilt on the cover!!!
Isn't it great?
You can tell a needle turn expert is working on this one!

Wool. wool. wool.
Wonderful wool.
(notice the magnetic needle holder-dog in the upper right corner.
Have you ever seen one of these??
Me neither....until today) ;)

Scrappy. lovely. quilt.
I especially like the border that matches so nicely with
the center of those wonky log cabins!

A quilted butterfly!!!

Dear Jane in applique!
I didn't know you could do that!!???

O.k.
I DID need to show you all that didn't I????
What an amazing morning!!!

I know you're all working on amazing quilts too...
and I love seeing them on my computer screen.
BUT...
It's soooo nice to see beauty in "Real life".
Don't you think??

Don't forget the giveaway here.
I'll be drawing winners on Friday!!
