Wonderful Weaving

Between family life....
Quilting life....
and
everyday life...
I've been weaving.

I had this bag on the loom when a special order came in.
:)

I loved using a LOT of gray
PLUS
some blues and browns to make this little "hippie bag".

After the bag was complete...
I wove two table runners.
I DO love weaving these.
There's TEXTURE,
color,
and MORE TEXTURE!!!

Just for fun...
Here's a picture of my loom and me
Weaving on a recent camping adventure.

That's another thing I love about weaving.
The loom doesn't need ELECTRICITY.

I can take it anywhere!!!

weaving strings

My loom gets ALMOST as much time as my sewing machine.

It's a peaceful way to deal with scraps!

I dug around in my Christmas fabrics....

and added some bright green.

I DO love GREEN!

Handwoven

I admired my friend's recent purchase.
A handwoven baby blanket.

Could I WEAVE a baby blanket???

I had to try.

I have a small table loom and thought
I needed a WIDER loom
to make blankets.
Then...
I saw this.

I HAD to to try it!

I was able to weave some color in.
Love that!
And then....
I TRIED to JOIN
two pieces of woven cloth together.

It's not GREAT.
A bit wobbly in the middle.
:/
For a FIRST project using this technique..
I'm not going to be too hard on myself!
I'm going to try it AGAIN!

"Practice makes PERFECT".

Perfect???
No.
Not in MY world.
and.....you know what?
That's O.K.!!!!

Finished on Friday

Some of you knit or crochet.
Maybe you do it while you watch a movie?
I weave.
:)

I can watch a movie...
Have a conversation.....
Move around the house to different locations
with my portable table loom.

I liked the colors in the pillows I made recently
and wondered how a BAG might look.

I think it looks just FINE!
;)

Monday

I've been weaving again.
;)
I like scrappy quilts...
AND
I like scrappy weaving!

In these pillows I was able to include:
Polyester yarn
wool yarn
knit fabric
cotton yarn
fleece fabric
LOTS of texture!

This project came about because I was CURIOUS.
That's how LOTS of my little projects get going.

I was curious about mixing different yarns/fibers.
I was curious about what a pillow might look like
if it was WOVEN.

I'm very happy with how it turned out.
I LOVE the mix of colors.

A nice white linen backing completed my "pillow" project!

Love the whites.
Love the greens and blues.
Nice ocean"y" colors!

These are now listed in my shop.

Woven in color

Before cleaning up after my BAG making adventure...
I thought I'd weave up ONE more item.

I love the colors in this table runner!

Wish I had some FIESTAware to set on top!
My plates are an ALLpurpose WHITE.
;/

Love the texture in this!
All the bumps and lumps!

I've just listed this one in my shop
;)

By the way...
I realized that it was
my 4 year blogging Anniversary yesterday!
Time FLIES when you're having FUN!

Love creating.
Love blabbering blogging about it!

Monday

Beware.

If you make ONE bag and your friend admires it....
You'll need to make TWO.
This is the FIRST one for ME.

This is the SECOND for my friend.
;)

Here's the woven piece BEFORE construction.

Here's the RAW material.

I have TONS of this fabric.
I think the ONLY thing it's good for
is WEAVING!

I cut this GAUZY cotton fabric into 1 1/2" strips
and added little strips of Tshirt fabric inbetween
to LIVEN it UP!!!

I love Weaving.
It's almost as addicting as QUILTING!
;/

I added a simple lining.....
and....

some black handles.

VOILA!

Monday

I'm cleaning and organizing my
"NEW to me" sewing room.
My almost married daughter found
an apartment this weekend.

I didn't waste any time.
She's gone...
and I'm IN!!!
LOL!

As I moved things around I came across this little
nametag/pin.

Don't think I've shared about it before.
If I have...
you'll have to see it again.
;)

These are supposed to be flowers in the pot.

I covered heavy duty interfacing for the pot
and machine stitch doodled on top.
I used some light weight wire for the stems.

You can see how I attached it all on the back here.
Kind of messy.  :/

But it does the trick.

I also have a finished rug!!

Made with t-shirt yarn.
Woven on my trip...
and...
Ready for the shop!

Happy Monday to you!

still weaving

I'm still weaving.
:)
Between sewing projects I have been managing to
warp up the loom...
and weave something!

This time I used thin strips of fleece!
What I got is an
Amazingly SOFT woven rug.

Kind of like a t-shirt rag woven rug...
EXCEPT ...
it's SOooo soft!!!

For you knitters and crotcheters out there....
Have you made anything with strips of fleece????
Curious minds want to know.
;)
