friday

One church banner almost complete!!
I just need to add the dowel at the top.
I may even add little pretty ends to that dowel!!!
It measures 4 1/2 ft. wide and a little more than 8 feet long.
Let me tell you......
I think I made it more complicated than I needed to.
We do that sometimes, huh?
I found the dark heavy fabric and then I added
sparkly netting on top.
I don't think I needed the sparkly netting.
Not sure you'll be able to even see the teeny, tiny sparkles at a distance.
And you know...
it's not easy attaching two v-e-r-y long pieces of fabric together...
Oh you knew that.
You're all quilters!!!
I added the lettering and then
the BLING....
the STARS.....
the bigger sparkles that you can see!!!
The backing was added like you would when making a pillow case.
This banner was easier than making a quilt.
A little more nerve wracking....
You know....
People at church will have their opinions.
You just hope...
they're good opinions. ;)

Then I made cookies!
Are you surprised?
I know. Me too.
Two weeks in a row!!!
Good thing I had my handy dandy oatmeal.
My breakfast choice everyday of the year.
Rain. or. shine.

And a good thing I had this too....
another
Hand written recipe!!
The BEST kind.
And you know what?
If you could hold this recipe....
you'd see how well-loved it is!
There are many stains, pieces of cookie dough
and drops of vanilla.
sweet.

Oops!
You can tell from this picture I forgot the cookies in the oven
a couple of times. :/
They're edible.
Very edible.
My waist tells no tales.
Here's the particulars if you're interested:
DIANA'S GRANDMA'S OATMEAL COOKIES.
1 C. sugar
1 C. brown sugar
1 C. butter (I used 1/2 c. butter and 1/2 c. crisco)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
mix. then add:
2 C. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
mix. then stir in:
2 C. oatmeal
1/2 C. nuts
1/2 C. coconut
1 C. raisin or chocolate chips (I didn't add these)
bake 350 for 10 minutes.
If you overbake....they'll still taste good....I know.
I'm adding this to Amy's sew and tell.
Have a great weekend!!!
I will.
I'll be eating cookies. :)

tuesday.

Four scrappy baskets are finished.
The question now is....
what will I put in them?
Or around them?
Or between them?

The questions keep coming.....

The possibilities are endless....

Instead of goofing around with baskets, though...
I have a deadline.
A church banner deadline.

This is taking up space on my living room floor
while I plot and plan.....
I bought 3 yards of heavy weight upholstery fabric.
I bought 3 yards of sparkly black netting to lay on top.
Also 3 yards for the backing.
My paper plans are laying on top.
A star.
Some letters (rejoice).
Today I'm going to begin to figure out how to put these
pieces together and maybe even add some more
sparkling lights in that night sky!!!

Hopefully this will be a really pretty banner...
A not too gaudy banner.....
A Sparkly banner.....
that will hang well before Christmas!!!

outgoing mail.

I'm going to the post office today bearing gifts.
Remember this quilt?

I quilted it and now it's all ready to go!

I saw this project in blogland and wanted to participate!
The button for this project is there on the right.

And listen....I can't tell you how excited I was to
finally figure out how to get those buttons onto my blog!

Then, remember this?

My sister-in-law's birthday is Saturday.
So-o-o since I was productive last month...
I can send a gift!

Usually when birthdays come around...they sneak up on me.
And then.....I don't have time to make something.
I now have a couple of things waiting in the wings.
I hope she'll enjoy getting this as much as I will
enjoy sending it. Don't you just love giving quilted gifts?

And last but not least.
Two little somethings for my daughter who's away at college.
FAR AWAY!
I'm in Southern California and she's in beautiful Georgia.

I bought some christmas fabric with those little santas.
I cut the little santas out and used some other christmans fabrics
to make those little flags.

Would you call this a banner?

I think she might like hanging this in her dorm room
or over her door.

Lots of pictures...because I think it's so cute!

I added those little triangles at the bottom of the santas too.
I like it!

I was on a roll!
If I make a banner for christmas....
I can make a banner for thanksgiving too!
Not quite as CUTE....but I think it'll work.

Here they are together.
I think they'll fit very nicely into a little padded envelope.

Can't wait to get to the post office....
I'll be dreaming of
THREE happy people opening packages.

I LOVE TO DREAM!

This is my other dream today.
What do I do with this vintage fabric I picked up
FREE
at a recent quilting class.

It WAS old and had those brown age spots.
I washed it real good and can hardly see those spots anymore.
SO now....what do I do with it?
What a HAPPY dream that is!

I LOVE FABRIC!
