All done and ready for the holidays!
Red and Green....
classic colors!
It doesn't HAVE to be a Christmas quilt though...
does it?
The cross hatching here took...it seemed.....
For----ever!!!
I mainly eyeballed from corner to corner...
but....
When I was on the borders....
I needed a Little help!
Painters tape to the rescue again!!!
I've tried eyeballing borders before.
It was a mistake!
:/
I used mostly cream colored thread...
but when going through the IRISH chain....
I used a soft red.
Sometimes the backing is my favorite part!!
I know I'm always happy to have some leftovers
from the FRONT to incorporate into the back!
Bound.
Ready.
Hey!
I even hand stitched the binding down!
This quilt deserved it!!!
;)
It is sooooo gorgeous, Beth!
ReplyDeleteVery lovely, classic and you are right, not just for the holidays. The texture is wonderful and love the back with the addition of blue.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beauty, this one would have been fun to hand quilt but you got it done just in time for the holidays......will you keep it for yourself to decorate the house? I have always loved the the Irish chain quilts and have made many of them. Nicely done Beth!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sewing
I have so many quilts! I decided to add this to my little shop. ;)
DeleteI wish I were in the market for a quilt. This quilt is so charming. I love it. I love your pieced backings. Cheers! Toni
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful, Beth! I like cross-hatching, and am planning to do it on Emmy's quilt. Hopefully it won't take too long!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to use the painter's tape!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty quilt. I just want to wrap up in it!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is gorgeous Beth. I need to make one just like it!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks awesome and the quilting is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteReally lovely quilt; yes, it deserved hand stitching on the binding!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! :0)
ReplyDeleteSweet as a peppermint candy cane! Yes, I can see that cross-hatching would take a lot of time with all the many little squares. It's lovely. I just finished a machine quilted project, too. Come by my blog and take a look if you get a chance. I'm not so successful at machine quilting projects of this size, but keep on plugging.
ReplyDeleteThis would look great all year round! Crosshatching really do become tedious after a while, doesn't it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The perfect Christmas quilt-warm and cozy looking-but you're right-it will great all year long.
ReplyDeleteIsn't painter's tape the best! Beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful! And look at the gingham border again! Just lovely
ReplyDelete,
Your quilt is just lovely and I think you made a great choice with the cross-hatch quilting! It adds such nice texture.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is fantastic and already to be used during the holiday. Painters tape comes in handy lots of time for making those perfectly straight lines.
ReplyDeleteEin wunderschöner Irish Chain.
ReplyDeleteLiebe Grüße
