friday finish

Here it is!!
Another friday sew and tell for amy.
A disappearing 9 patch without a turquoise border.

You won't believe this, but I actually went shopping for fabric!
Or maybe you WOULD believe me!
I journeyed to the local fabric shop and couldn't find
piece of fabric that really WENT with this quilt.
But, YOU all know that I didn't leave that store
empty handed!!

I decided that since most of the fabric was old,
that muslin border fits the quilt MUCH better
than any of the NEW fabric I was seeing at the shop.

A new quilt pose!
Right under the flower garden!
Maybe we'll name it cotton candy.
Naming these quilts is not my FAVORITE activity,
so my daughter gave me some help this time. :)

  1. Disapearing nine patch is one of my favorite patterns and yours is so soft and pretty...perfect with the roses in your yard! I love muslin! It goes with anything.

Thanks for sharing such a beautiful quilt with us today! And the flowers!

  2. I really like the soft tones of these fabrics! Sort of soft and cuddly. The muslin is perfect for the border. And, I'm beginning to like that Disappearing 9-patch a lot!

  3. this is gorgeous...i love the colors and the muslin border looks so pretty

  4. This turned out great! The muslin does work nice, so much better than that other :)

  5. The muslin is a great choice. This is really pretty!

  6. Naming quilts is so difficult! Your quilt is very soft and beautiful looking!

  7. What a great choice for the quilt name! It looks so cozy. Great work. Thanks for sharing!

  8. A great finish! This is so pretty and I like the name cotton candy. In the last photo you can see a 3 dimentional element to the pattern.

  9. That is just gorgeous, Beth! The muslin really is perfect for the border. Looks like a treasured heirloom quilt. Great job! :o)

  10. That quilt is too sweet for words (so "Cotton Candy" is a very fitting name, indeed!) - love the fabrics!

  11. The top came out just beautiful! Cotton Candy it is :)

  12. This is so pretty!!! I think you made a great decision to go with the muslin. Love the name. I have a hard time naming quilts as well. I love the disappearing 9 patch pattern. I might need to make one of these myself. Thanks for sharing.

  13. Lovely. The pattern adds so much interest to the quilt. Don't forget to let us see it when you've got it quilted.

  14. When in doubt (which I usually am) white muslin is the answer! Although, I also love the unbleached muslin just as much! Great job!!

  15. How pretty, Beth! The muslin makes a perfect border; I can imagine the soft colours of the vintage fabrics are hard to match.

  16. I'm anxious to try a disappearing 9 patch. Yours turned out beautifully! I also love that hex table topper in your side bar. :)

  17. I love the soft colors. I want to make a disappearing 9 patch one day. Love yours.

  18. That is so cute! I get more excited about doing a disappearing nine patch every time I see one! Good choice with the muslin!
