It has become apparent to me

that when occasions come up.....

I can't arrive....

UNLESS

I'm carrying something

HANDMADE!

 

Good thing.

Usually.

 

I found out today

that my daughter feels the SAME WAY!!

and...

she doesn't mind asking me to make it!!!

LOL!!!!

 

Well...

when there's only 30 minutes....

You've got to get CREATIVE!

 

These little towels were in my stash.

READY....to become bibs.

 

 

And...

You can see that red and white gingham sheet again.

 

Probably the only reason I used THAT

is because it's still sitting on my SEWING TABLE!!!

 

Takes me a while to clean up after a project.

Baby quilt thoughts

I love making baby quilts!

They are....I think...my favorite kind of quilt to make!

 

I love using charm packs.....

but....

 there aren't always enough "charms".

It's fairly simple to add some blocks.

See the three sort of solids on the left???

They are filling in for me.

I don't think anyone will ever "suspect"

they don't "go with" the quilt.

;)

Do you?

I love adding little tiny 2" squares.

This black and white with pins was LONELY in my 2" drawer....

It will be......

Lonely NO MORE!!!!

Don't you think It fits perfectly into this quilt!

 

That reminds me..... I need to sit down one of these days

and just CUT squares (out of scraps)

to replenish my 2", 2 1/2", 3"....etc. drawers.

 

Pickin's have been slim lately!

Here is a faithful friend!

A bed sheet.

It was Found at a thrift store a while back.

This friend seems to pop up in quite a few of my projects!!!!

In fact.....

I used it just yesterday making my apron ties!!!

 

Today it became binding!

Red and white check will ALWAYS be welcome in MY quilts!!!!

See that backing??

I bought quite a bit of this gingham last year.

I LOVE it!!!!

And.....

Only two yards left!

When quilting straight lines.....

I've found that quilting on the diagonal/bias

is MUCH easier than quilting straight across.

The bias is very forgiving!!!!

And I, for one,....need that!

 

I have issues with my straight quilting lines....

but never seem to have them when I quilt

DIAGONALLY!!!

O.k.

I Think those are all my "thoughts" on this quilt.

Except to say.....

I can't WAIT to give it away!!!!

 

That's the best part of making a QUILT!!!!

Shopping.

Pretty kitchen towels...are just....

too pretty to hang here!!!!

Soooo....

I did what I've done before.

 

I cut some triangles OFF!

Finished those two edges...

Made ties and a neck band.

Hey!

I didn't even iron this first.

 

It came together SUPER fast.

 

Then....

I tried to take some self portraits to show it off

to my friends in blogland!!!

But....

My self portrait skills are WANTING!!!

Mini Vacation

I took a little mini vacation with my youngest.

We were away two nights.

There was a tiny bit of time for sewing.

Not too, too much.

 

After all...

There were bikes to ride....

Hikes to take...

and....

 some serious reading going on...

*note the book peeking out under the table. ;)

I've now joined some blocks together.

Love the peaceful vibe of all that blue and white!

But...

Maybe it needs a POP of red!

I'm going to fold it up and let it

Cross blocks

I receieved some blue squares in a scrap bag recently.

I couldn't get these silly squares out of my MIND!!!

 

ALL I've been able to think about are WHITE crosses.

What would they look like in the blue squares????!!!

It's a thought that has been swirling around.

Ever have those quilty thoughts that won't leave???

I succumbed.

I made some white crosses in the blue squares.

JUST. BECAUSE!!!

 

Now my thoughts are a reality!

Deadlines

I know you've seen this quilt top before...

but Now it's DONE!!!.......Thanks to a deadline!

Aren't deadlines GREAT????

Wonder what we'd get done without them???

I added a little bit of embroidery.

I think it adds a nice TOUCH!

 

The center house block for this quilt has been in my orphan drawer.

It came from Applique Addict during one of the last two

neighborhood blog parties I hosted.

 

Isn't blogland NICE???

Marjorie sent me an extra block

just BECAUSE!!!

 

Like I said.

There are LOTS of sweet people in blogland!

It's been fun getting to know each and every one!

The back was pieced with what I have on hand.

I'm happy to say I haven't needed to buy fabric for a while!

Guess that says something about my stash, huh?

It's quilted and READY for the

BRIDE to be!

 

This quilt features LOTS of scraps

in my "dump and sew" style!

Gotta love those SCRAPS!

Green and White

Green...

My favorite color!

 

This green and white quilt fits PERFECTLY in my home.

 

But.....It's not mine.....

I finished it up for a special friend.

She had the blocks....

I just did the REST!!!!

 

Now SHE has a quilt!!!

and...

I have some leftover blocks!!!
