It's Friday...

and I finished a quilt top this week 

MOSTLY because there are REALLY nice quilters in this world!

Friends from all over sent a couple of blocks

(and some sent more!)

This mix of recycled shirts

makes a quilt I want to KEEP looking AT!!!

AND....

I had that fun stripey border fabric in my stash.

I think the addition from Mr. Kaufman 

updates the whole thing!

;)

The blues and browns are PERFECT!

This is where I was working yesterday.

I moved my little machine into the dining room

to work with friends.

It's NICE to change the view every once in a while!

AND...

SUPER nice to sew with company!

One twin size quilt

using shirts and other assorted plaids and stripes.

PLUS....

Lots of 2 1/2" squares from my drawer.

I'll NEVER use them ALL up

no matter HOW HARD I try!

Don't we all LOVE these homey quilts???

 

This quilt is for a special little boy's BIG BED!

Need to get it quilted....

so he can GROW UP!!!

 

(This quilt is EXTRA special.

I made the wedding quilt....

The baby quilt...

and NOW....

I was ASKED to make this one!)

 

 

 

 

using UP

Crocheting like a quilter would.

Using UP bits and pieces of someone else's leftovers.

This afghan is growing and growing.

I'm surprised at how LONG it takes to make one!!

AND...

How much YARN it requires!

Think I'm only halfway after MANY long drives

and QUITE a few chilly soccer practices.

Patching squares together

after dissecting some plaid and striped shirts.

Treasure

I went treasure hunting yesterday

at the thrift store.

Aren't these shirts great???

Men's Extra Large.

Look at how they go together?

They will make a GREAT quilt!!!

I also found this LOVELY pedestal piece.

Mmmm....

Even my thread looks pretty here.

THEN......

While cleaning out a closet to make room for new treasures....

I found THIS!!!!

My oldest daughter made this a long time ago.

Isn't it sweet?

Butterflies cut out......

Without the aid of a Machine!!! ;)

and hand stitched down.

I'm keeping this treasure.

I think It's my favorite one!

I figured it out!

In a previous post, I wondered what I would do with these.

Some of you helped me out!

So nice to have this blogging community to share with!

I LOVE it!

I added those sashings and cornerstones.

I like it!

Then I had to figure out the sides.
I don't want empty white triangles on the edges.
How can I incorporate some of my leftover squares?



Here we go.




I had some of this other "sort of" white in my stash.
I like the way it goes with the sashings....but it's different.

I had JUST enough for the side triangles...but not enough for the four corners!!
I found another "sort of" white that
I will put in each of those corners.
Can't wait!!!!

This will be a TRUE scrappy quilt

Although I don't know how I'll progress this week...
...kids home....
....cooking....
....cleaning......
...hosting a big meal.....
