Vines and Leaves

I'm adding some applique to this quilt!
I cut some leaves Free hand
and am adding them
ONE by ONE
on to that curvy vine!

The light border I'm putting them on is
a VERY generous 10" wide.
LOTS of room to play!!!

I pinned them on HERE and there.
I don't think this kind of applique
needs or WANTS a pattern.

Leaves are ALL so individual in REAL life!

See my use of THREE different white/lights??
First there was the muslin pieced with the triangles.
THEN
There was the muslin with sparkly freckles!
A gold sashing.
And then.....
a very light white/gold floral.

THAT, my friends, is what you do
when you have LOTS of fabric
but NOT lots of the SAME fabric!!
:)

I'm almost done with the purple leaves.
I'll switch thread color soon
and work on the greens.
Hey!
I might even get busy and make some BERRIES!!!
I think they'd be VERY happy in this quilt!

Good Neighbors

I had quite a few 2 1/2" strips leftover from a project.
Quite a few....but...not enough.

I did what many quilters do.
I MADE DO!

The cream panel was added
with a vine, a few leaves..
and some fun circles found in a small batik scrap at my house!!!

It all came together!!!
:)
I MAY add a border.
I'm going to look at it and dream a little bit more first.

I will go back and zigzag OR blanket stitch around the applique.
Ironing applique on is SO easy!
I should do it more often!
(The product I used is called steam a seam.)

This quilt is a gift...
Like so many of my quilts are.

They're ALL special...
but this one is EXTRA special.

It will be given to my neighbors who are moving away soon.
They have been the BEST neighbors and I'll miss them.
Terribly.

Quilting gives me a place to grieve.
A place to be sad.
The stitches are a bit of healing for me.

leaves and things

I love this quilt.

It's definitely one of my favorites...even though it's not quilted yet!
I'm sharing this one because today

the termite men are coming with their big tent!!

Do I have all the sewing essentials I need??

Maybe I'll do some hand quilting while I'm "homeless".

I DO need to work on that basket quilt!

I also have this going on at my house!!
Does anyone else have this problem??

My family is kind of tired of this....
But, I try not to let anything go to waste.
We even had leftover chicken chili with cooked zucchini for a topping.
I called it zucchini frosting.
They didn't believe me!

SEWING CENTRAL

I had a friend come over to sew yesterday.
It was a very productive morning!

Jen began with fabric, ribbon and elastic.

This is what she got.
Isn't that TOO cute?

Chloe thinks so too.

That ribbon hem was so-o-o easy!

Chloe is JUMPING up and down with
happiness because her older sister....

gets a skirt too!
YEAH JEN!
You did it!

Jen brought over some OLD patterns!

How fun is that?
I'm going to try this one!

And while Jen worked on skirts...
I worked on leaves.
I'm thinking about a house in the middle of all these.
What do you think?
