String quilt Love

Making quilts NEVER gets old.

It's an exciting ADVENTURE every time!

Even when I AM making a BOY quilt.
Boy quilts are a bit of a challenge for me!
I love cute. pink. and Sweet.
Those things DO NOT describe this quilt!
;)

But BOYS need quilts too!!!

This quilt will be given to a high school graduate
at my church.

Gotta love a stringy. scrappy. FUN quilt!!!

Blocks were made using an old sheet for foundation.
Strips/scraps were added to the triangle foundations and trimmed.
Cream Solid triangle was added to the string triangle to make
8 1/4" half square triangles.
Put it all together with a border.
VOILA!

Remnants

Buying remnants (end of bolt fabric)
is KIND of like buying fabric....
but NOT QUITE!!!
(that's what I've been telling myself)
;)

It's just a LITTLE piece....right?

I challenged myself with a YEAR of
NOT buying fabric.

I've slipped a few times..

and when I saw this 5/8 yard of fabric...
I BOUGHT it!
Ooops!

Should have NEVER entered that fabric store...
but I was helping a friend.
(excuses, excuses...I know!)

I didn't want to CUT up that cute fabric...
so I added some orphan blocks!!!

Oh my goodness!!
I love this quilt!!

Another one I want to KEEP!!!
But I have no little boys at my house.
They've ALL grown up!!
and....
It happened SO fast!!

See what you can do with
REMNANTS and ORPHANS???
The two were MEANT for each other!

Free Quilt!

When someone offers you scraps.....
TAKE them!!!

This quilt was FREE
and...
it was easy!

A little bag of scraps.
A free afternoon.
For me.... the means.....
FREE entertainment!!!
;)

Here it is BEFORE the border.
Doesn't that bright border fabric make a difference??

There were even a couple of CUTE Prints!!!
Big trucks!
What every little boy dreams about!!!

This is the book that inspires me
EVERY time I open it.

String quilts could keep me busy FOR----EVER!!!
There are SO many possibilities!!!

I'm hoping to quilt this one up in the next week
and donate it to my local quilt guild!
They do a GREAT job of supporting LOCAL agencies...
providing quilts to needy organizations!

What are you donating this week??
There is a linky party here if you'd like to share!
There are so many needs....
Let's CHEER each other on!!!
