Monday Making

I just returned from a great trip to Switzerland.
Right before leaving, I finally settled on WHAT
to take for HAND WORK.
The. most. important. item. to. pack!

I took along a few of these vintage dresden plates.
I have a whole stack!

After quickly machine basting twice through...
I had JUST what I needed to work on!
I am appliqueing around the outside of petals
and then I will add a center piece.

I also took wool yarn and knitting needles
for my husband's new beanie.

I finished just in time
for a little alpine horn blowing!

What are YOU making this week???

  1. Whoa!! Switzerland - that sounds amazing!! love your handwork project!

  2. I love you 1930's Dresden blocks, really pretty.

  3. What a wonderful destination! Looks as though you had a great time. Welcome home -- and welcome back to Monday Making.

  4. I loved seeing your pictures of Switzerland. Your plates look pretty too.

  5. Visiting Switzerland is on my bucket list. The vintage dresdens are wonderful. I also have some vintage fabric. Your post is a reminder that I need to do something with it.

  6. Isn't it wonderful to have your travel and your sewing, too? I'm sure you got a lot done. Glad you enjoyed. Blow the alpine horn in celebration of quilts!

  7. Your trip sounds like so much fun. Enjoyed your pictures on instagram.
I do love a Dresden. Great choice for handwork.

  8. Love the Dresdens! So pretty.:)

  9. The plates are so pretty on those backgrounds!!! (And I totally agree: when a trip is coming, I'm immediately planning my handwork!). Also, I was in Switzerland back in the day before our kids were born - it was magical and beautiful. I hope you had a great trip! You and your hubby are so cute.

  10. Your pretty dresden plates on each of the fabrics really make them pop! They are lovely. How exciting to have enjoyed a holiday in Switzerland. You would've had such a fun time.
