As I drove through my neighborhood earlier this week
I spied an estate sale.
I bought two things.
A small bit of Old fabric
and THIS.
It has not had a happy few years, I'm sure.
:(
It is made with wool, polyester
and a host of other fabrics!
The batting is wool
and this baby is HEAVY!!!
It is also full of moth holes....
Mostly around the edges.
It was worth the couple of dollars
just to have her pulled from beneath the furniture she was protecting
(in the garage)
and bring her home!
I laid her out on the grass and hosed her off.
Poor thing!!
She hasn't seen the light of day in YEARS
She hasn't seen the light of day in YEARS
and I SHOCKED her into 2015
by spraying her off!!!
I will try VERY hard not to buy any more old quilts.
I am not a collector...
I am trying to convince myself of THAT!..... ;)
but I do FEEL for these old patchwork masterpieces!
What a great find! I'm so glad you rescued her and gave her a good home.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a good soul. It is a wonderful find and it does appreciate your saving it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great old quilt that is. I hope you can salvage it. The colors are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI laughed at the picture of you hosing her off.
ReplyDeleteThe imaginary picture in my head
DeleteWhat a great quilt and a kind rescuer!!
ReplyDeleteWow, she's a beauty. Glad you rescued her from the life of a furniture pad. She definitely deserves better.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful piece of the past deserves the dignity of a good home, congratulations!
