Monday Making

Did you hear CHEERING from my house this week??
It's because the applique is ALL DONE.
The background reds are being added...
and the END IS IN SIGHT!

There will be 36 blocks in this quilt.
I can't wait until it's ALL TOGETHER!

Pattern is HERE at Sentimental Stitches.

Monday Making

My courthouse steps quilt is slowly growing!

One little scrap at a time.

I work a little bit on it most evenings
after the cooking and cleaning, etc. has ended for the day.

I had a mess of plums I needed to "deal with"
so a friend recommended this recipe.

That's ALL IT TOOK for me to learn about ICE CREAM  making.

I have NEVER made ice cream.
and....
I've obviously been missing out!

I found an ice cream maker at the thrift store...
my GO TO shopping destination...
and it was so easy after that.

Yum.

Monday Making

This little bassinet basket just needs a little dolly to be tucked inside.

This Grandma had fun sewing some leftover flannel together and
making it snug and comfy for my granddaughter's little charge.

She loves tucking in ALL her dollies.

Monday Making

I loved this quilt when I saw it 4 years ago at a yard sale
and I brought it home.

It was HEAVY. WOOL. OLD. MOTH EATEN.
and
WONDERFUL.

I loved the color.
I loved the piecing.
It was JUST right.

I hosed it off and thought about keeping it.
But....I didn't.

I knew I wouldn't use it.
I knew it would just take up space here
and what I REALLY wanted to do was just LOOK AT IT!
:)
Now I have a picture.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

What are your thoughts/??

Monday Making

Using the tiniest scraps...
I am  making some courthouse steps blocks.
The strips are all ABOUT 1"
Some smaller.
Some larger.

First..
I begin with a teeny tiny RED center.
Then...
I add scrappy strips.
Dark and light.

AS you can see they are all a bit different in size.

That's the beauty of scrap quilting MY WAY.

I sew and sew.
I DO NOT take time to measure.
I line them up in rows that are ABOUT the same width.

Then....
When I get close to the end...
I will do some trimming.
or adding.
Whatever is needed.

I love the ADVENTURE of it all.
I also enjoy the peaceful SEWING time.

IT is a NO STRESS kind of piecing adventure.

While I am sewing
the garden is GROWING by LEAPS and bounds!!!

The zucchini is, of course, included in almost every meal.

And when we've had enough...
I'll give some to the neighbors!!
:)

Monday Making

I am SO close to finishing all the applique blocks
for my Sally Post Floral quilt.
The pattern is from sentimental stitches.

I LOVE the variety of flowers and the colors in this soon to be quilt!!
It is not a fussy quilt.
I am cutting sort of free form
and placing the pieces in a way that suits me.....
Using the pattern a guide.

It has been hard to keep my mind on household things
as I try to get JUST ANOTHER STITCH in!!

But...
there were lots of cabbages this year...
So I had to figure out something SIMPLE.

I am attempting sauerkraut.
We'll see how it turns out!

I finished the twins quilts
and I'm so happy with them.

They are different but the same.

The grand baby twins can NOW arrive anytime they like.
I am READY.
:)

Monday Making

Every quilter dreams of the day she'll get to
pass on her LOVE of sewing to the next generation.

That dream came true for me this week.
:)
My new little green machine sped along
as my granddaughter learned
all about the sewing machine!!!
Very fun!!!

Stuffed animals were TOP PRIORITY.

And we didn't want to STOP!!!

Whatever you can DREAM up...
YOU can MAKE!!!!
