Monday Making

This week I used this hexagon quilt as my inspiration.
(I made it for daughter and son-in-law a few years ago for their wedding)

I made a few hexagon rows and am fashioning a table runner.
I did a little demo on my youtube channel.
I used a half hexagon approach WITHOUT a special ruler.

I drew a 60 degree line on my quilting ruler for my angle...
And....
It worked out just fine.
:)

 I also did some knitting.
It’s almost SLIPPER WEATHER!!

Monday Making

What do YOU pack when traveling?
I always want my “sewing room” with me...
So I usually pack a machine if at ALL possible.
:)

This little featherweight...
Even though it is NOT light as a feather,
Is my favorite machine to travel with.

It’s such a simple machine.
AND CUTE!!!

I have this older roller bag that my machine case fits into perfectly.
I think I bought it at a thrift store many moons ago.

Setting up a sewing room when I’m traveling is pretty high on my list of
Traveling essentials.
Especially if I’ll be in ONE place for a while.

How about you??

Monday Making

I had a teeny tiny bit of that cute alphabet fabric in my stash.
JUST enough to put this little toddler quilt together.
Truth be told....
I had to piece one of the 6" squares.
Can you see it in the bottom left??
;)

I used a smattering of yellows for the sashings
and blues from my 3" square drawer.
Do YOU have a 3" square drawer?
and a  2", 2 1/2",......drawer as well?

I also added to my newest scrappy project this week.
Last week I had ONE block.
Now it has some company!

Monday Making

Why are simple blocks so captivating?

I don't need fancy fabric.
I don't need intricate piecing.
Give me simple.
Give me plain.
And ADD a RED center to make it SING!

This block is 8" square.
Foundation pieced on fabric from an old cotton sheet.

Monday Making

TWO sweaters!
It was a TRICK trying to get these sweaters made for the twin grandsons and to make them
THE SAME size!! Haha.

My button area kind of bunches up.
Ah well.
Homemade is not always PERFECT.
That’s the beauty and the adventure of it all.

I also finished a small quilt this week along with a video for youtube.
I’ve been having fun adding content to my channel.
Editing video is a new skill and has been a new creative outlet for me.
:)

Monday Making

What do YOU do with old t-shirts?
I made some t-shirt yarn.....
used some crochet thread....

and wove a bath mat.

My daughter recently moved and requested a little mat for her new home.
Nothing fancy.
Just a little rug.

I WILL say...
Handmade is such a satisfying pursuit!
I'm happy to add something homemade to her new house!

I also did a little quilting.
Using the book "The American Quilt- a history of  cloth and comfort"
by Roderick Kiracof,...
I made a little table topper.

Maybe I'll make some more squares
and turn it into a longer table runner.😉

Love the colors!!

Monday Making

The grand kids were here this week.
I had such a lovely time.
We rode our bikes, cooked together,
did some crafts, caught butterflies....
It was perfect.

I wondered what I would do with them for THREE DAYS
without any outings.
Guess what?
We didn't need any outings!

Here's one of the little stuffies made this week.

It's tomato season here.
Another reason to be thankful this week.
:)
