Monday

I'm quilting lines through some pretty hexagons today!

Last week I was looking for motivation.
This week I found some. ;)

I moved my machine into the dining room and got to work!!
The change in scenery is good.
Plus.....
The dining room table is big enough to hold the bulk of this big queen sized quilt!

Wish me luck as I wrestle with the "deep blue sea". ;)

A flower garden

This quilt top has waited a LONG time to become a quilt.
The six inch squares of vintage fabrics were ALL TOGETHER.
The batting was cut to size.
They were folded nicely together.
Then...
they waited.
a very. long. time.

I'm calling this a FRIDAY finish...

Even though the binding needs to be hand sewn on the backside.
;)
Don't you love that gingham with the flowers??

I love the pieced backing.
(did not love piecing it.)

When you begin making a big quilt
(this one is 88"x88")
you go into it with a LIGHT HEART.
You don't think about the future
You enjoy the moment!!!

It is NOT lighthearted when piecing the BIG backing....
sandwiching the BIG quilt
and then
quilting the BIG quilt!!!
ah well.
It's done now.
I can stop complaining.
LOL!

I think I'm spoiled.
I've been making too...too many baby quilts!

Monday

Here's a very simple round robin quilt..
I made all by myself!!!

(Typically round robin quilts are done by
a FEW quilters.)

I began with some leftover 3" squares.
Leftovers make yummy quilts. ;)

I added star points and some nine patches in the corners.
I wanted to use just ONE fabric in the four corners...
but didn't have enough of any ONE piece.
The 9 patches worked....
they just took a bit longer. ;)

Get the idea I was trying to speed through this one???
yes.....I was.

I pulled out my 3" leftover squares again....
and added a thin little border.

Leftover blues cut in 6" wide segments were next.
Super simple.

Then my Favorite way to GROW a quilt......Quickly....
10" piano key border!!!!
That added 20" whole inches!!!

My queen sized quilt top is complete!
It was easy!
Now....to quilt it!

Oh yeah.....FIRST....I need to piece a back......;/
