Little Black Bag

I've been shopping for a black bag.
Every time I see one I think about the black scraps I have at home.
I think...
I can MAKE a black bag.
Why BUY when I can MAKE???

I thought about it MANY times...
and FINALLY today I
DID SOMETHING about it!!!!

I did not use a pattern.
I measured the bag I've been using
and just made one similar in size
with the same sort of handles!

I almost CUT the handles OFF
my current bag so that I could use the rings...
then.....
I chickened OUT!!!!

What if I want to use my current bag again????
:/
It's kind of worn out...
but you never know.....

Instead I used some "D" rings I had in my stash.

Here's the back.
I'm almost OUT of heavy black and gray scraps!
Oh no! ;)

I added some hexagons I made WAY back here!
That silk hexagon quilt is
STILL A DREAM!!!
That's o.k.
I DO like having a little jar filled with silk hexagons.
I can Whip them OUT at times like this!

Lining and a pocket with velcro!!!

Here's what's left of the wool pants I used!
One leg had already been used for a prior project.
Now we've got some HOT pants!
LOL!!!

A gift

A birthday gift.
A simple gift.

I've made a few of these for myself
and
LOVE "dressing up"
my active kitchen table with them!

I even Handquilted it!
I love the colors!
Hopefully my friend will too!
;)

I included a handpainted necklace in her gift bag....

Because I LOVE wearing mine!

this and that

Just plugging away over here...
Doing little things.
I can't believe I didn't make one of these hexagons
for myself last year!!!
They are so easy and I made so many last year...
I can honestly say.....
"I can sew them in my sleep!" :)

For the one above I enlarged the outside two strips to 3"
instead of 2 1/2".....
hoping I'd be able to get those snowmen in!
I was afraid of losing too many if the strip was too narrow.
It took more fabric that way and it's a little too big for my taste.
Oh well..
Live and Learn.
Then I added a little excitement to...

This dress...
That came from the thrift store. ;)
It's amazing what leftover beaded trim
and a few simple buttons can DO!!!!

Our Christmas dress is now ready for
some action!!!

cool air

There's a chill in the air today at my house
so I went digging through my Christmas fabrics.
What did I find??....
Leftovers from my projects last year.
Lots of orphan pieces from my little
hexagon table toppers here and here.

You can see I'd even pieced some together to
MAKE a little piece of the hexagon pie...thinking....
maybe....
someday....
I'd be able to figure out a way to use them.
I do like thinking about what to do with leftovers.
Crazy. I know.

I figured something out!!
Yeah!

And I think I have enough little pie pieces to make
a quilt.

If I don't.....

That problem is EASILY solved!

six sided Christmas

I think I can safely say that by December 25th
almost everyone in my sphere of friends and family
will have one of these.

You know it goes....
You make one and then.....

You're hooked.

Anyone else get stuck on one project like this??

I kept thinking of someone who
needed one! :)

About half way through these little things, I realized

I could add tags.

And see?
This one is sitting under a pretty gift
given to me!!!
Don't they look great together??
I did keep this ONE (with a mistake) for myself.
Now, if you were to give me four 2 1/2" strips of fabric,
I could make one of these in my sleep!!
Also notice that I have a tutorial and flickr group....
All about hexagons!!!
so......what are you inflicting on
your friends and family??
